I’ve given up on trying to teach her how to use the internet, so when she asked me to search for carpet cleaning holly springs nc I said sure, I'll go for it. She needs to find a carpet cleaning service in NC for a rental property she just purchased, and she wants to try to salvage the carpet that's in it instead of replacing it. Personally if it were me I’d rip it all out. I hate carpet. I hate the linoleum floors we have throughout most of our house, but I’ll take them any day over carpet!

Computer Illiterate
My friend just asked me to do some research for her online because she's too computer illiterate to figure it out. Yeah, I'm still the girl everyone runs to when they need me to look something up for them, especially people like my friend who gets lost trying to figure out how to turn her computer on. I seriously don't get how some people, especially people my age can be so computer illiterate in this day and age. I mean, even if you don't own a computer if you're my age you should at least know how to turn it on and do basic functions. Computers are present in almost every job environment out there, and we all had to pass computer classes to graduate.
So Glittery
There is glitter everywhere...everywhere! That's what I get for letting the *almost* 3 year old play with glitter, but at least she had tons of fun. She did a pretty good job of containing the mess, too. She was so careful to snap the lid on after shaking each bottle on her paper, and she carefully dumped the excess glitter into a big bowl.
So, the little one wasn't the problem.
It's really my fault...for not removing the glitter bowl from the room before the dog jumped the baby gate and decided to investigate. The bowl went flying, glitter everywhere! The dog sneezed when the glitter covered his nose, and the glitter floated through the air again. I cleaned as much up as I could, but the play room still needs a good scrub. I have a feeling I'll be cleaning glitter out of things for weeks!

Helping Out A Friend In Need
Sometimes we have so much going on in our own lives I forget that others are dealing with things that are far worse. Tonight I'm putting together a care package to send to a couple we are friends with who have been having a very difficult year. The father has some major back problems, and that's led to a difficulty working. He had a discectomy, but it didn't fix everything and he's been in extreme pain for a couple years. He had another surgery a couple weeks ago to implant a device that will deliver pain medication directly to the damaged part of his back, but he is now on bed rest for a couple months.
On top of that the family found out a few months ago their toddler son has neurofibromatosis, so that have yet another thing they must deal with. Mom has to miss a lot of work to take both Dad and son to numerous doctor's appointments and MRIs, so I know they're struggling. Plus, they also just discovered baby #2 is on the way.

Why Home Owner’s Insurance On Vacant Homes Is Important
Last night a house a couple roads over from us burned down. Luckily the house was vacant because 4 local fire departments responded, but they had trouble getting to the house because of the ice on the roads. It was pretty much gone before a single fire truck got there. This is the second vacant house near us to burn down this year. No cause has been released yet for this one, but the first one was arson. It started when a bunch of thugs broke into the vacant house which was rumored to be haunted to camp out and started a fire from the kerosene heater they were using.
This got me to thinking about exactly what the people who own the house have to go through. They weren’t living there, so there’s a good chance the house is empty of their belongings. Still do they have vacant home insurance? Thank goodness nothing like that ever happened to my Grandparent's when they built their new home and moved out of the one we now live in. This house sat vacant for 11 years before we moved in, and I know for a fact they dropped the homeowner's insurance on it while it was empty. It baffles me that they did that because they kept the water and electric on, and this house became a guest house and extra storage area. They got a new policy when we moved in, and we also have a renter's policy now, too.
It does make me wonder, though. How many vacant homes out there don’t have homeowner’s insurance on them anymore, and what would happen if god forbid they caught fire or were hit by some other disaster?
So Jealous
Some days I wish I had the talent to design and decorate some of the gorgeous houses Hubby sees. He met up with his boss today to go over an addition to one of the homes they build last year, and he showed me photos. The house could absolutely be my dream home. It is a huge log cabin on the outside, but on the inside they have everything I could only dream of having.
I’m so jealous of their home theater furniture. I’m jealous that they even have a home theater, but being that these people are Clemson alumni they have their entire home theater done in Clemson orange and purple. The furniture is faux fur in a tiger print, and they look like the most comfortable chairs ever. I’d love to be able to sit in that theater for one game. It’s a shame they probably don’t even watch the games there as they have a box for all Clemson home games, and I know they travel to most away games, too. I bet they hardly even use the theater.
At What Age Are Mp3 Players Appropriate?
I have a question for you parents out there who have children around the age of seven. My friend’s son has a birthday coming up, and he’s asked for one specific gift. He wants an Mp3 player, but more specifically he’s asked for an ipod nano. My friend asked me if I thought it was appropriate to get him this gift at this age, or if I thought she should wait a bit longer. Other kids his age have iPods and Mp3 players, so of course he thinks it's something he wants.
I thought I would turn to my blog for opinions from other parents since it will be a few more years before I’m dealing with a child this age. Personally I don’t think I would want to give a seven year old an iPod because I think it’s a gift that’s just too expensive for a child this age. Most seven year olds I know are rough on their toys, and there’s a good possibility of him damaging it or breaking it completely beyond use. I did suggest that if she wants to give him an Mp3 player she might consider a cheaper one for now that’s easier to replace if he breaks it. That’s up to her, though.
I think she also has to consider what she’s going to do every time he wants new songs added to it. Can you expect a seven year old to learn to do this himself, or will he constantly be begging Mom to get him new music? She monitors the music he listens to, so of course Mom would be buying the mp3s he’s allowed to have.
So, what are your thoughts on this?
Lots To Do Today!
Sometime between jumping up and down thankful my aunt is finally having the dead tree in her yard chopped down and taking my shots (and donating) to the Boobie-Thon I have to find time to pick more grapes today.
We have so many grapes and scuppernongs that we honestly don't know what we're going to do with them all this year. We've had people stopping by like crazy to help us pick them all, but they're still hanging in bunches. I managed to get outside a couple days ago to take some photos of what's left, and we still have tons that are going to rot if I don't do something about them.
I know exactly what I'm going to do with as many of them as I can pick. I'm going to freeze as many as I can, and I'm going to make as much grape and scuppernong jelly as I can. Not only will this help me offer healthier choices to my daughter, but it'll help Hubby and I on our quest to get and stay healthy. I can search out weight loss pills that work for us, or I can take the few extra steps needed to keep us on a healthy diet with the options that are already free and readily available to us in our backyard.
I absolutely love scuppernong and muscadine jelly, so now is my chance to try my hand at making it. I've got my Grandma's recipe in hand, and I'm ready to spend the day picking and extracting juice. I know I don't have nearly enough jars to make my jelly today, but I can freeze the juice and make the jelly whenever I have time.
I keep saying I want to make sure I feed my daughter the most organic foods I can, but I know once she's here that'll be easier said than done. The prices of organic foods in the grocery store is outrageous, and I'm very thankful to have such an abundance of fruits surrounding me. Between the pears, grapes, scuppernongs, pecans, apples, and figs in our yard alone I have no excuse for my I can't feed my child healthy and preservative free foods.

I've also noticed the farther my pregnancy progresses the more likely I am to get rid of something I previously decided to keep. Last month I packed all of our extra Mp3 players in a box with other electronics we don't use anymore including an extra VCR. I justified it by saying we'd have extras if something happened to the ones we do use. Now I just want to get rid of it all! We don't need this stuff taking up space we'll need to store baby stuff.
Why are we even using a VCR anyway? I think the only video I haven't converted to dvd yet is our wedding video, and I seriously need to do that soon before something ends up happening to the tape. Anywho, that's something to worry about another day. Right now I have to run errands, grab some groceries, pay the truck taxes since they're due tomorrow and all that good stuff.
Give It Up For Lasagna
After eating it last week then talking about it so much I haven't been able to get lasagna off my mind. I'm sure that has a lot to do with my pregnancy stomach, but all week I've wanted more lasagna!
So what do I do?
Last night I broke down and made lasagna. I actually ended up making two different lasagnas, and now I have so much leftover I can't fit it all in the freezer. I tried to give some of it away, but so far I haven't found anyone who wants it. Of course asking people if they'd like a hot meal during the hottest part of the day might have something to do with that, so I've put Hubby to work eating it today.
He's going to be so sick of lasagna he's never going to want to eat it again! He had it for breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack, and the house has smelled like reheated lasagna all day. He's going to need diet pills to make up for the baked goodness, and I'm going to need to burn a tart to get rid of the smell before it starts making me sick.
Just because my stomach is already kind of icky today I don't think I'm going to chance burning any of these new tarts I haven't tried. I think I'll break open the Gardenia Soy Wax Melts I have from Things That Make Scents. They've been on my desk for a few days, and they smell so wonderful! Maybe that's just what I need to get the lasagna off my mind for awhile...at least until dinner time!

Commercial Rant
Here lately I've noticed the more opportunities I have to watch tv the less I actually watch. That's partly because we have DVR, so I know I can watch my favorite shows when I'm in the mood instead of when they're actually on. The other big part of it is I'm tired of the commercials that take advantage of the sick and elderly.
For example you've got the mesothelioma commercials that really drive me crazy. Diseases like this are no joke, but you've got all these heartless lawyers doing anything to make a buck off these innocent people who could really use the cash they could gain from the class action lawsuits...if the lawyers didn't take it all. Sure the lawyers are making it seem like they really want to stick it to the companies who caused the people to suffer, but the reality is they just want to make as much cash as they can, and they don't care how much of a cut the sick people will actually get. Most of the innocent people will be lucky if they can afford a burger after the lawsuit much less pay off their hospital bills.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes there are lawyers and class action suites out there actually trying to help the people who deserve it because they actually care, but most of these loser lawyers on tv make me sick. If i were looking to enter anything class action I'd totally ask a million questions about the lawyers, and I definitely wouldn't be teaming up with anyone running commercials over and over trying to take advantage of my situation. It disgusts me.

A Beautiful Wedding
We had such a great time yesterday. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, and the happy couple were just gorgeous beaming from ear to ear. We made the drive downstate for the wedding, and we didn't plan to stay more than an hour at the reception, but things didn't happen that way. All of Hubby's New Jersey and Florida family came, so the reception turned into a huge family reunion. The out of town family stayed in the same hotel where the reception was held, so after the reception ended at 4pm we all went back to the hotel to hang out. We didn't head for home until 7pm.
I do have lots of photos, but I will have to edit most of them. It was a Catholic wedding, and that particular church wouldn't allow photography inside. We couldn't take photos until we got to the reception, and the lighting was horribly dim. My mother-in-law's camera batteries died shortly after she began shooting, so I turned my little point and shoot over to her. She was able to get great shots, but the lighting was so horrible my little camera couldn't cope. The flash on my camera is horrible, so almost all of the photos came out way too dark to be any good.
I do have a few great ones of the bride & groom though. They still need some tweaking, but they turned out pretty well considering my crappy camera.

Bad Lighting
I'm sorry to say I didn't get the photos taken and edited today to write up my reviews of the incense. I had fully intended on it, but I got caught up in doing a ton of other stuff. We cleaned the chimney so we could build our first fire of the season tonight. Then I went shopping for groceries and a few other things. I got caught up in working and doing laundry when I got home, and I completely forgot about taking photos.
With it being well past dark, I just don't have any good lighting to use to stage the photos. The lighting in this house totally sucks, and it's pretty much useless to try to take photos after dark unless I want them all to turn out dark as well. I used to have a table lamp in the living room that created the perfect photo lighting, but Alley knocked it off the table awhile back shattering it beyond repair. I really should get another one. Heck we just need to change out all the old fixtures in this house for better ones. I just never set aside the cash to do it because I'm busy buying other things.

Do you love photography? I do, but I have to admit I'm a pretty crappy photographer. I know the fact that I don't have an awesome camera doesn't help, but great photographers produce great photos no matter what they're shooting with.
I wish I had the time to take some photography classes, spend some time running around shooting photos, and all that, but I just don't. Instead I'll leave it up to the professionals and those that are aspiring to be professionals. I'll stick to amateur photography when I can.

Possibility of Lasik
What are your thoughts on Lasik? I'd really like to hear your story if you or someone you know has had Lasik done.
Hubby and I have discussed it before, and now we're discussing the option again because even though he was doubtful about it at first, he's decided he thinks the surgery might be a good option. Of course it's not something we can afford to do right now, but it's definitely something I'd be willing to save money for.
We already know he qualifies as a candidate, and we discussed the surgery last year. At that time he just didn't want to go through with it though because he was kind of scared of it. He's worn glasses since he was 6 years old. He's nearsighted and has a very bad case of astigmatism. Without his glasses, he's basically blind. I think what scared him the first time we discussed it was the list of possible side effects.

Faster, & Faster, & Faster
I was planning on sitting down to knock out a bunch of work today, but it doesn't look like I'm going to get to do that. I'm already making a list of places I have to go and things I have to do. I know I won't get to sit down and watch the game, but I popped some fresh batteries in my MP3 player, and I've got it ready to go. I'll just set it to the fm radio and tune into the 93.3 The Planet so I won't miss anything.
This is definitely going to be one of those weeks. Actually I'll be pretty busy from now until after Christmas. It seems like this is definitely my busiest time of the year. Times like this I wish I could do some futures trading with someone who has absolutely nothing planned over the next few months. I'd love to just sit back and relax.

Back From The Beach
Good afternoon! Wow, what a great weekend we had! I really needed that quick getaway to the beach because now I'm back to running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. We did have an absolutely wonderful time this weekend, although when I saw myself in a swimsuit I was wishing I had taken a little more time to lose weight before our trip. Thankfully there weren't any photos of me.
The beach was totally beautiful as always, and there were only a handful of people out there at any given time. I got up at the crack of dawn every morning to search for shells while it was low tide, and boy did I rack up on some pretty conchs. Even though it was cloudy, the sunrises were still beautiful.
Bubba really enjoyed the beach, and I can't wait to take him back again. We took him out at low tide because at high tide he wanted to attack the waves and drink the salt water. He drank a little the first time we took him out and puked on the beach, so we made sure he didn't have a chance to drink anymore. He still had a lot of fun, and he loved rolling in the sand.
He did great all weekend, and I'll definitely take him back again.

Total Mush
My brain is totally mush today. It's definitely a Monday, and an allergy/sinus ridden one at that. All this ragweed has my head so blocked up that I can't concentrate. I went to do a simple search for HDMI cable, and it took me a good 10 minutes to remember what I was searching for. I kind of feel like my head is walking 10 feet behind my body, so I'll have to see if I actually accomplish anything today. I'm thinking most of my housework will just have to wait until tomorrow.
Planning For The Birthdays
My birthday isn't until November, but I'm talking to a friend right now already planning my party. You may be asking a few questions like why is she planning her own party? Why is she planning the party now when November is so far away?
Well this year we decided to combine a bunch of birthdays into one party because so many of our friends have November birthdays. Heck my two best friends are my sister-in-law Sam, and then my other BFF, Alli. Sam's bday is the 4th and Alli's is the 26th. Mine falls somewhere in the middle, plus there are about 15 others I can think of that fall between those dates.
Throwing one big party together means not only can we all celebrate, but it'll be cheaper. Besides there have been plenty of years where I've gotten burnt out on parties by the 3rd or 4th one I've had to attend in a 2 week period.
We decided we'd go all out. We're renting out a small local club for the night, hiring a dj, and having food catered in. With so many people offering to participate we can actually afford to do that, but it's going to take some time to plan.
One of my friends is an awesome DJ out west, so he offered to dj our party if we pay for his plane ticket. I'm not telling you who he is, but I will tell you that's a steal compared to what he normally charges. Now I just have to look at flight deals to see exactly what it's going to cost us. I'm pretty sure I can find tickets for a decent price. I won't have to worry about a hotel or rental car because he's going to stay with us.
We've assigned everyone participating a task to do. I'll take care of the DJ and the venue. Another friend is looking into catering and so on. I think this is one group project we might actually be able to pull off!

One of my friends is an awesome DJ out west, so he offered to dj our party if we pay for his plane ticket. I'm not telling you who he is, but I will tell you that's a steal compared to what he normally charges. Now I just have to look at flight deals to see exactly what it's going to cost us. I'm pretty sure I can find tickets for a decent price. I won't have to worry about a hotel or rental car because he's going to stay with us.
We've assigned everyone participating a task to do. I'll take care of the DJ and the venue. Another friend is looking into catering and so on. I think this is one group project we might actually be able to pull off!
Thinking About Roadside Assistance
I'm sitting here paying bills, and I just thought of something.
Tuesday night we had a flat tire. We pulled over in a church parking lot, and we were stuck changing the tire during the middle of a thunderstorm. Unfortunately the standard jack that comes with the Blazer was the only jack we had with us, and it collapsed underneath the truck causing the rear rotor to smack the ground. Hubby had just got the tire off when it collapsed. Luckily nothing was damaged, but we did have to call someone to bring us a floor jack so we could get out of the storm and home. We were only 2 miles from our house when the tire blew.
I started thinking about how lucky we are that it happened this week because that tire had been plugged. The plug popped out of it when we rolled up to a stop sign. What if the tire had held, and it had decided to blow on our way to the beach next week? If the same events took place, we would be stuck in the middle of nowhere far from home with no help.
I decided I need to look up our auto insurance online and see if I can add roadside assistance to our policy. We do have full coverage, but roadside assistance is an optional feature that we don't have. I wonder if I add the service if it'll kick in automatically or if there will be a wait period. Hmm. It's definitely worth checking out...doncha think?

Facing My Face
Ugh. I don't know if it's what I've been eating, my sleeping schedule, or just hormones, but my face is breaking out like crazy this week. I seriously hate acne. I dealt with it as a teenager, but it's gotten worse as I've gotten older.
There for awhile I had an all natural treatment that was working great for me, but it's stopped. Maybe it's because I was using the all natural stuff during the colder months, and now that it's hot out nothing's working.
My mother-in-law wants to take some family photos. She's a photographer, and she'll take them herself, but I keep putting it off. Just when I think my face is clearing up I get hit with another bad breakout. I will not allow myself to look like that in our family photos. My breakouts are getting to the point where I can't cover it with makeup, and I prefer not to wear makeup during breakouts in hopes my face will clear up faster. Yeah, I can edit my pimples out of photos. I do it all the time, but I don't want to have to do that. Just for once in my life I wish my face would cooperate with me.
