That "Did You Know?" video I just posted really has me thinking. I can't even imagine the way things could change in the next 20 or 30 years. Looking back on the past 20 years it amazes me how far we've come with technology.
The thing about jobs really got me thinking, too. I've had a lot of jobs. Actually I've had 8 different jobs since the age of 16, and I'm only 26. I don't think I have to worry about switching to another job anytime soon, but when I look at how many jobs I've had it's a lot. I wonder if the creators of the video took into consideration that a lot of people have changed jobs because their jobs have become obsolete.
Out of all of the jobs I've held, 2 of them did become obsolete. One of them, my services were no longer needed because the business shut down, but the other one was a manufacturing job. My job ended when a machine became the faster, more efficient option for the company. Three departments were let go because why should they keep workers to do the jobs when machines can run the soldering, plasma cutter, chip programming, etc.
Have you had to change jobs because the company decided to give your job to a machine?
