A Sad State

I ran into an old friend today, and it saddened me.  Here lately everywhere I turn I'm running into someone I know who used to have it together but now suffers from an opiate drug addiction, meth, prescription pills, something. Drugs seem to be taking over our community, and it's horrible.  People I never thought would touch drugs are caught up in such horrible things.  A friend from school who was a straight A do no wrong kind of guy just got sentenced to 30 years without parole for getting messed up on drugs and trying to kill someone over even more drugs.  It's a very sad state, and I can only hope they'll get straightened out before it's too late.
