1. What is the worst natural disaster to affect the city in which you live? Were you living there when it happened?
The only forms of natural disasters we deal with are tornadoes (most often), occasional flash flooding, and sometimes wildfires due to the droughts. Honestly we've never really had any really bad natural disasters. I'd say the worse I've seen are the tornadoes, and we've been lucky that they haven't come that close to our home.
2. Do you know if there are sex offenders living in your neighborhood? Are you concerned about it?
Actually there are quite a few sex offenders in my area. I can't exactly call it a neighborhood since I live on a rural road, but I know of 3 on our road. One lives 2 houses down, and I can't say I'm really scared of him. He's in his 90s.Another one is a guy I went to high school with, and he's only on the list for having sex with his 16 year old girlfriend when he was 18. Her parents had him charged with rape, but I think it was completely wrong. Now he's married to that girl, and they don't speak to her parents. It's a sad situation.
As for the 3rd, I don't know the person, but it's a woman, and I'm pretty sure I could take her ;-), so I'm not really concerned about any of them. If I had children and didn't know these people or why they were on the list, that might be a different story.
3. If you were elected to your city council, what would be the first item you would want to vote on (go ahead and be creative)?
The first item I would vote on....hmmm...I would vote to ban more than 3 of those huge blow up holiday yard ornaments from being displayed in a single yard at once. There's a woman who lives up the road from us who lines her entire driveway (both sides of it) with about 50 of them for EVERY holiday. I've often debated if I'd really get charged with destruction of property if I sat across the road from her house and shot them all out with a pellet gun.
