All These Extra Appointments

What a day!  I know I haven't been around a lot lately (ok, at all), but there's a good reason for that.  All these doctor's appointments are keeping me running around like a mad woman, and it really sucks.  Don't get me wrong most of them are necessary or a very good precaution.  I'm considered high risk because of my blood pressure, so seeing the maternal fetal specialist every 2 weeks is a good thing.  Having an ultrasound every 3-4 weeks is a good thing, but there are a lot of unnecessary appointments, too.

Like today. I was scheduled to come in to do my sugar test. I thought it seemed a bit early because I thought the sugar test was normally done around 26 weeks.  I'm 23 1/2 weeks, but when I questioned the doctor at my last appointment she was really wanted it done at my next appointment.  I went all the way to Greenville, drank the nasty sugary orange stuff, and sat around for an hour with nothing but boredom.  Next time I'll remember to take my Kindle or maybe I'll remember to pick up a pair of headphones so I can listen to music.

The hour was almost up when the doc came in and checked my bp.  Everything looked good, so she pulled out the lab paperwork to send me in for the blood work for the sugar test.  That's when she looked at my chart again and said "oops I guess I did schedule you early for the sugar test.  Any results before 24 weeks absolutely is too early to use, and we really don't want anything before 26 weeks.  I know you already drank the sugar drink, but we'll have to redo the sugar test in 2 weeks."

Yay me...not. Boo extra appointments!
