Give It Up For Lasagna

After eating it last week then talking about it so much I haven't been able to get lasagna off my mind. I'm sure that has a lot to do with my pregnancy stomach, but all week I've wanted more lasagna!

So what do I do?

Last night I broke down and made lasagna. I actually ended up making two different lasagnas, and now I have so much leftover I can't fit it all in the freezer. I tried to give some of it away, but so far I haven't found anyone who wants it. Of course asking people if they'd like a hot meal during the hottest part of the day might have something to do with that, so I've put Hubby to work eating it today.

He's going to be so sick of lasagna he's never going to want to eat it again! He had it for breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack, and the house has smelled like reheated lasagna all day. He's going to need diet pills to make up for the baked goodness, and I'm going to need to burn a tart to get rid of the smell before it starts making me sick.

Just because my stomach is already kind of icky today I don't think I'm going to chance burning any of these new tarts I haven't tried. I think I'll break open the Gardenia Soy Wax Melts I have from Things That Make Scents. They've been on my desk for a few days, and they smell so wonderful! Maybe that's just what I need to get the lasagna off my mind for awhile...at least until dinner time!

Father's Day '09

First of all Happy late Father's Day to all the dads out there. I didn't get to spend much time with mine today, but I'll be making up for it by spending a good bit of the day with him tomorrow. We did spend a good bit of time with Hubby's dad today, and I have to thank my wonderful sis-in-law for the awesome lasagna dinner she made. Of course the chocolate cake with caramel and cream cheese icing was a big hit with me as well.

Then again, anything related to food is a big hit with me right now. That's probably why I'm absolutely loving this Rootbeer soy wax tart that's sitting on my desk right now, but we'll be discussing that one later.

Anywho back to the Father's Day stuff. After finding out on Friday that Hubby's job just went from he'll be laid off for 5 weeks to he'll be laid off indefinitely, we decided it was probably best if we didn't spend money on Father's Day presents this year. Things are going to be extremely tight around here until Hubby finds a new job.

Hubby's Dad wants a motorcycle jack so he can stop renting one every time he needs to change a tire, so hopefully we can get him one for Christmas instead. I had planned to grab my Dad a gift certificate to Tractor Supply, but that's out of the question now as well. Instead I'm going to cook dinner for each of them on whatever night is good for them. My Dad chose tomorrow night, and we'll probably take care of Hubby's Dad next weekend since my sis-in-law cooked dinner tonight.

Honestly I can't wait until next year because I can't wait for Hubby to have his first father's day. Of course people were wishing him Happy Father's Day today, and he kept responding with "Thank you, but it won't be real until I have that giggling baby in my arms". I can't help but imagine what it's going to be like when that time comes, and I can't wait!

A New Batch Of Teas

What's worse than wanting a nice cup of herbal tea only to find out you have ran out?  How about knowing you just received a fresh batch of awesome herbal teas from SBS Teas, but you're not allowed to sample any of them!

One thing I do miss during pregnancy is a nice cup of tea, especially if it's one of my favorite SBS Tea blends.  Unfortunately via doctor's orders the herbal stuff and specialty teas, except for one approved chamomile, must be stashed away until after this little one arrives because some herbs are known to induce labor.

Normally I wouldn't have such a hard time staying away from a cup of hot tea in the summer time, but I've been craving the stuff!  I've especially wanted the Rooibos Blueberry Cream, but I'm staying away and playing good girl for awhile.

That leads me to my dilemma though.  How am I to review these 3 new teas I've just received if I'm not allowed to drink them?  Do I need to go the same way of the diet pill reviews my sister is guest writing for us? I think I might just have to round up a few friends who are willing to sip a hot cup of tea in the heat of this southern summer.  I may just have a little tea party!

Now as for the tea they'll get to sample, this month I received one green tea I'm dieing to try, Long Island Strawberry Green Tea, as well as a nice Blueberry Black Tea that smells wonderful, and Kama Sutra Chai.  The last one definitely peaked my interest, but we'll just have to wait until this little munchkin arrives for me to give it a try.

Valley Of The Mist Botanicals Skin Saver Salve

While we're waiting on my sister to email me the review she's wrote for us of the best diet supplement she's found, let's talk about a new product I tried yesterday. It's no secret that pregnant women can suffer from extremely dry and itchy skin. I naturally suffer from dry skin, but in the past 2 months my skin has become so dry and itchy it's almost unbearable. My feet and elbows have always been horrible, and I've searched for products to help, but now even my ankles are dry and cracked.

I was extremely happy when I opened up my Lemming Central box and found a pocket sized Skin Saver Salve from Valley Of The Mist Botanicals. I couldn't wait to give it a try to see if this salve will help my dry and cracked skin. I also wanted to test it out on Hubby since his elbows are extremely rough as well.

Before even using the product as usual I check the ingredients list to make sure I'm not allergic to any of the ingredients (even all natural ones) since my already sensitive skin has been even more prone to skin allergies since becoming pregnant.

Ingredients: Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, Vitamin E, Essential Oils: Rosemary, Lavender, and Tee Tree

Valley Of The Mist Botanicals Skin Saver Salve description:

Smooth on this great all natural salve after bath or shower to soften and soothe feet, hands and elbows. You will notice your skin will be smoother and softer after using it for just a few days. Cover with cotton socks to aid absorption. Enjoy!

I smoothed on this salve and threw on cotton socks as soon as I got out of the shower yesterday, and so far I really like it. Of course it will take a few days to see any improvement in my skin, but I like the way the salve feels on my feet. Immediately my ankles stopped itching which is a big bonus for me. I've itched constantly for weeks, and nothing seems to help! Also even though the salve feels like of greasy when you're taking it out of the container it doesn't leave your feet feeling greasy at all. I can't stand the feeling of greasy lotions and creams on my skin, and this one definitely didn't leave me with that feeling.

I also put some Skin Saver Salve on Hubby's elbows before he went to bed last night, and he had no complaints about this one. Normally he's not a fan of any of my lotions and creams because he says they stink. He described the skin saver salve as "the scent of walking into an herb garden in the middle of the night". If he's that descriptive he likes it. Otherwise he would have just told me to wash the stuff off.

So far I give this Skin Saver Salve 4 out of 5 stars because we're really liking it. The rating could drop depending on how well it helps our skin over the next week, but so far I'm happy with how well it stopped my itching! That's a major plus right there for me!

There are 3 sizes of the Skin Saver Salve available for purchase. The pocket size is 1/3oz and sells for $3.25. It's the perfect size if you're looking for something to toss in your purse or travel kit. The 2oz size retails for $12, and there's also a professional 4oz size available for $20 that is recommended for spa type applications.

Lots Of Products On The Way

I've been working on a few reviews, and hopefully tonight I'll have time to get the ones I've written up typed up. I tend to write my reviews on a notepad as I'm sampling each product so I don't lose my train of thought and totally forget what it was I wanted to say about each item. Right now my notepad is busting with reviews on a ton of new stuff I've received over the last week, and I'm so excited that I have this stuff to share.

Also my sister is on a mission to lose some weight, so she offered to write up a few guest posts on the best diet pills she's tried. Maybe she'll share some info that will not only be useful to my readers but also to me in the months when I'll be trying to drop this baby weight!

I was starting to worry there for a bit because all my favorite bath and body e-tailers were either going out of business or taking a break. I stopped purchasing the Lemming Central boxes for awhile, and just when I decided to start buying them again I found out the boxes are coming to an end. I did purchase the last box, and luckily I've found some new favorites I can't wait to tell you about out of that box!

Bumping Into People

I always love running into people I haven't seen in years, particularly people I went to high school with. It's always interesting to catch up with them, find out what kind of career that person may have now, where they live, how many kids they have, and all that.

I ran into a guy today that I know from way back. We didn't go to school together, but we were friends when we were kids. I did, however, find out his wife is someone I was really close to in high school. I haven't seen either one of them in at least 10 years, so we ended up sitting for awhile inside a store chatting while we waited for the rain to die down some. Turns out they moved to Arizona right after they got married, and they've been there since.

He does something with software, maybe software development, but she is a SAHM who is setting up her own crafter's store online. As soon as she mentioned that she makes candles, incense, and tons of other stuff I had to give her my email address. I told her to hit me up as soon as she gets the store online because I'll most likely be her first customer.

I felt like it was kind of meant for me to run into them today especially after yesterday I found out one of my very favorite online candle retailers is shutting down.
