For A Good Cause

This has been one very exciting week for me. I'll tell ya if things in my life had been this exciting back when I was trying to lose weight I wouldn't have needed an appetite suppressant because my excitement is doing that for me. I've really had to make sure I've reminded myself to stop and eat because I've been completely forgetting about meals.

What's had me so excited? Well for starters I had my first ultrasound Thursday morning. If you want to see the photos I posted them here along with a photo of the other little bundle of joy that's had me so excited. While I was getting my ultrasound done our best friends were upstairs getting ready to welcome their first child into this world. She was induced at 8:30am, and at 5:30pm we all got to meet Baby JJ.

I've been in baby mode over the last few days. I was holding off on buying any clothing items for JJ until we knew what the sex was, but now that I've got a baby boy to shop for it's been very hard to keep me out of the baby section.

Now today we've got something else going on that I'm really happy about. From 4pm-10pm we've got a benefit concert going on for a couple of local brothers who are really going to need a lot of help. The Wiley brothers lost their mother in February when her life was taken due to domestic violence. She was a breast cancer survivor and a wonderful woman who we all loved very much. Now the 23 year old full time college student is left as the only guardian of his 7 year old brother.

The benefit is featuring 5 bands, including my father-in-law's, as well as $2 beer, pizza, and subs from Columbos in Clemson, SC. We're all going to hang out, have a great time, and raise money for a great cause. If you're in the Upstate SC area and want to join us you can get all the info you need here.

Resting

My computer is screaming at me tonight wondering why I just woke it up from such a long and wonderful sleep. My pc is hardly ever turned off unless we're on vacation, but lately it has found itself with plenty of time to rest. I've been so busy I honestly haven't even turned my pc on in 5 days, and that is totally unlike me. I've posted a couple times from my cell phone to Twitter or Facebook, and I did find time to sit down for about 2 minutes at Hubby's desk to knock out a post, but that's about it.

I look at how little time I've had this week to get online, and I have to wonder what it's going to be like when the baby gets here. My life is definitely changing in every way possible. Speaking of babies, I'm super excited right now. One of the only reasons I'm still up this late tonight is because I'm too excited to sleep. One of our best friends is expecting her baby any minute now, and after today's exam the doc says she could go at any minute. The doc feels like she won't make it more than 24 hours, so hopefully we'll have a new addition to our circle within the next day!

Mama to be was hoping we could go shopping tomorrow to spend some of the gift cards she picked up at her last baby shower, but now I doubt she'll be going anywhere other than the hospital. Yay! I'm so excited, but this also means even less time for me to spend at the pc.

*Sigh*

I do promise I'm not abandoning you all. I will make it back here as soon as I possibly can...and maybe with pictures of a little pinky squirming baby.

Kicking The Spam

I think it's about time for me to manually edit all my older posts so I can close the comments on them without having to close comments across the board. That's one feature I really wish Blogger would give us...allow us to close comments on any posts over let's say 30 days old because honestly the only comments I ever get on older posts are all spam comments.

Here lately I've been dealing with lots of spam comments for weight loss pills and male enhancement, sometimes up to 200 comments a day! That's a lot of comments to have to manually approve or delete, and there's probably a good possibility I'm missing legitimate comments when I get fed up and delete them all.

Come on Blogger...how hard would it be to offer us some form of spam protection to kick out all these junk comments? Apparently the system in place just doesn't do the trick.

Nursery Furniture Deal

Although some may say it's too soon to be buying baby stuff (aka we're not out of the first trimester yet) we've gone ahead and jumped on the shopping bandwagon. Actually I've been baby shopping for months thanks to all the babies that are entering the world all around us, but now I get to keep shopping for myself!

I know I shouldn't buy much at all right now because there are 2 future Grandmas who are very excited and on a shopping binge of their own, 1 very excited Great Grandma to be who's buying every cute baby item she spots, and there will be showers and other family and friends buying gifts.

I promise I'm not buying like crazy, but I have bought 1 little outfit, and this weekend we picked up our nursery furniture. Normally I would probably have waited a few months to buy the furniture, but I just couldn't pass up this deal. One of my Mom's work friends passed on the info that her daughter was selling a fisher price crib with changing table and dresser for $200. The set was practically brand new, only used 3 times by her son before they placed him in a bassinet.

I grabbed the model number, made sure their weren't any recalls on the crib, and then we drove to Georgia to check it out Friday. We ended up coming home with it Friday night. I just couldn't pass up that deal considering the light oak color is exactly what I want, the set has TONS of storage, and we'd be lucky to find a crib for $200, let alone a whole set.

I'll take photos once I get everything setup in the nursery. Right now the furniture is shoved into a corner in my office until I figure out exactly what room I want to use as the nursery. I'm not sure if I want to use the guest room or if I want to convert the small den off our bedroom to a nursery for now. We've got plenty of time to figure that out, and the furniture is out of the way in my office.
