What are your thoughts on Lasik? I'd really like to hear your story if you or someone you know has had Lasik done.
Hubby and I have discussed it before, and now we're discussing the option again because even though he was doubtful about it at first, he's decided he thinks the surgery might be a good option. Of course it's not something we can afford to do right now, but it's definitely something I'd be willing to save money for.
We already know he qualifies as a candidate, and we discussed the surgery last year. At that time he just didn't want to go through with it though because he was kind of scared of it. He's worn glasses since he was 6 years old. He's nearsighted and has a very bad case of astigmatism. Without his glasses, he's basically blind. I think what scared him the first time we discussed it was the list of possible side effects.
Back On No Buy
I'm officially on a no buy again thanks to the gas shortage/prices. We're having a hard enough time paying bills right now, so of course I'm not going to run out and buy stuff. I do however still have a big box of bath & body products that are just waiting to be reviewed. I just need to kick my butt in gear getting pictures taken and reviews written up.
I even have some reviews written up almost ready to go, I just don't have photos of those products any longer. I had a huge folder of product folders that up and disappeared. I'll have to blame Hubby for that one seeing as how I know I didn't delete them. A lot of those were promotional items I was given for free to try out, and I decided to go ahead and write about which ones I liked or didn't like. I'm sure I can shoot a few emails off to some of the e-tailers for permission to use some of their photos. I'll start on that tomorrow, and hopefully I'll have some new reviews up soon.

Faster, & Faster, & Faster
I was planning on sitting down to knock out a bunch of work today, but it doesn't look like I'm going to get to do that. I'm already making a list of places I have to go and things I have to do. I know I won't get to sit down and watch the game, but I popped some fresh batteries in my MP3 player, and I've got it ready to go. I'll just set it to the fm radio and tune into the 93.3 The Planet so I won't miss anything.
This is definitely going to be one of those weeks. Actually I'll be pretty busy from now until after Christmas. It seems like this is definitely my busiest time of the year. Times like this I wish I could do some futures trading with someone who has absolutely nothing planned over the next few months. I'd love to just sit back and relax.

The Sea Cow Eatery On Edisto Island
While on our trip we were of course in search of great food. On Sunday morning we took off in search of an early breakfast, and we ended up stopping at the only restaurant on the island that was open that early. Man am I glad we stopped there. The restaurant is called The Sea Cow Eatery. It's a little mom and pop type restaurant that was absolutely wonderful. It was so great we ended up going back 2 more times to eat again.
Sunday morning we had a little wait for breakfast because the place was packed, but we were still in and out in a timely manor. We didn't care though. We were on island time, and we weren't in a rush. Our server was very courteous, and she stayed on top of us even though she was serving an entire packed out restaurant. We ate outside on the screened in porch to avoid the Lovebugs that are swarming this time of year.
I ordered 2 scrambled eggs with bacon, grits, and a biscuit. Hubby ordered a 2 egg bacon omelet with grits and toast. We had so much food we couldn't finish it all, and all of it was delicious. The grits were some of the creamiest I've ever had, and the tea was absolutely the best sweet tea I've ever tasted. That's saying a lot coming from a southern girl who drinks sweet tea as an everything staple. We made sure to request to go cups of tea before leaving for another beach walk.
Sunday afternoon a few friends rode up from Beaufort to spend the afternoon with us, so we decided to return to the Sea Cow for a late lunch. I had scoped out the lunch menu and was dying to try the Shrimp Salad Roll, sauteed seasoned shrimp with lemon & dill rolled in a tortilla. Hubby had Chicken Tenders, one of our friends chose the Philly Cheese while the other opted for The Cow With Cheese. All plates came with beer battered fries and Minnesota Cole Slaw. We also ordered two side orders of cheesy fries, which were not only delicious but absolutely huge. The 4 of us couldn't finish them.
My Shrimp Salad Roll was wonderful. It was perfectly seasoned, and yet again so large I couldn't finish it. Hubby doesn't normally eat shrimp, but once I was full he picked the shrimp out of what was left of my roll. He finished his plate of chicken tenders and said they were some of the best he's had. None of us cared too much for the cole slaw, but I'm extremely picky about slaw. I only like it made a certain way, and this just wasn't it. The beer battered fries were great, too. All veggies on our plates were also from locally grown produce which scored big points with me. Even though we were all stuffed I couldn't keep my eyes off the dessert menu. I spotted the Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake when we walked in the door, and I had to have a slice for later. That was some of the best cheesecake I've ever had! Hubby opted for one of the chocolate chip cookies. The cookies were so large they were more like a small pizza, and he had trouble finishing it.
We ate another wonderful Sea Cow breakfast Monday morning, but this time I opted for something smaller knowing I couldn't finish the plate. I chose a bagel with cream cheese, and it was one of the largest bagels I've ever seen. My bagel was sliced in half and served with a slab of cream cheese in the middle. I absolutely go overboard on the cream cheese, and I had plenty. I could have picked up the bagel and eaten it as a sandwich if I had liked. Hubby opted for 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, and toast which he forced himself to finish.
We had wanted to return Monday evening to try the dinner menu, but we decided to save it for our next trip. We wanted to try out some of the other restaurants on the island, so I'll have to check out the shrimp and grits on our next visit. I'm sure they'll be great just like everything else, and we will definitely be returning to this restaurant on each and every Edisto vacation we take. Now I just need some diet pills to help me counteract all this wonderful food I ate!
Back From The Beach
Good afternoon! Wow, what a great weekend we had! I really needed that quick getaway to the beach because now I'm back to running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. We did have an absolutely wonderful time this weekend, although when I saw myself in a swimsuit I was wishing I had taken a little more time to lose weight before our trip. Thankfully there weren't any photos of me.
The beach was totally beautiful as always, and there were only a handful of people out there at any given time. I got up at the crack of dawn every morning to search for shells while it was low tide, and boy did I rack up on some pretty conchs. Even though it was cloudy, the sunrises were still beautiful.

Bubba really enjoyed the beach, and I can't wait to take him back again. We took him out at low tide because at high tide he wanted to attack the waves and drink the salt water. He drank a little the first time we took him out and puked on the beach, so we made sure he didn't have a chance to drink anymore. He still had a lot of fun, and he loved rolling in the sand.

He did great all weekend, and I'll definitely take him back again.

Packing It Up
I never realize how much junk I have until I try to pack for a trip. I didn't realize how crappy some of Hubby's clothes have gotten. I went to pull out his "nice" shirts only to realize most of them have been turned into work shirts. His best pair of jeans don't even fit him anymore, and his swim trunks look all raggedy.
Of course I discover all of this on Thursday night when I need to be packed completely by tomorrow afternoon so Hubby can load the Blazer up when he gets home. No wonder my acne treatment doesn't seem to be working right now. I'm so stressed out new pimples pop up as the old ones start to disappear.
I ran out and bought Hubby a new pair of shorts tonight and a new pair of tennis shoes. He's worn a hole almost through the bottom of one of his shoes, and of course the man hasn't mentioned it to me. You'd think I'm married to a bum! I searched all over the place for a new pair of swim trunks, but I can't even find any left on the clearance racks. I figured at least one store would have some summer stuff out in the corner or something marked down, but no. The only thing I'm finding on clearance racks are ugly t-shirts. It looks like he's just going to have to deal with his old swim shorts, or I'll have to break down and give Walmart a try as much as I don't want to.
No matter what we're out of here bright and early Saturday morning. If he doesn't want to help me pack, then he's just going to have to wear whatever the heck I can find that doesn't have a hole in it no matter how ugly it is!

Total Mush
My brain is totally mush today. It's definitely a Monday, and an allergy/sinus ridden one at that. All this ragweed has my head so blocked up that I can't concentrate. I went to do a simple search for HDMI cable, and it took me a good 10 minutes to remember what I was searching for. I kind of feel like my head is walking 10 feet behind my body, so I'll have to see if I actually accomplish anything today. I'm thinking most of my housework will just have to wait until tomorrow.
Missing The Show
Why is it whenever I have the time and money to go to concerts nothing I want to see is coming to my area, but the minute I make plans for something else the show I want to see arrives?
A few weeks ago Hubby and I were discussing how much we'd like to go see Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew Live when the show came to our area. Why? We were both glued to the tv during the first season watching the JabbaWockeeZ, and we really want to see them live. I started checking tour dates, but I eventually gave up because I wasn't finding any shows anywhere near us. Then we made plans for the beach, and I stopped checking because I knew we wouldn't have cash to spend anytime soon.
Then this morning I received an Eventful.com newsletter showcasing stuff that's happening in my area. Of course one of the main events listed is the Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew Live. I immediately clicked through to see where and the dates...September 21 at Littlejohn Coliseum 20 minutes away from my house. Crap! I'll be at the beach!
Oh well. I know I can't have both. I did see that Steve Miller Band is going to be at Littlejohn on October 22, so I might just have to convince Hubby to do that. If he doesn't want to go with me I'll see if my mother-in-law wants to go. I know she enjoys Steve Miller Band as much as I do, and it'd be nice to spend some time hanging out with her. Yep, she's one cool hippie chick.

Purchasing Medications Online Safely
I went to the orthopedic doctor with my Grandma this morning, and when we stopped to pick up her prescription I was floored. She was prescribed an arthritis cream for her knee that is over $100 a tube. A tube is supposed to last her about a week, and yes that is the generic version.
Prices like that cause a lot of people to turn to online pharmacies because they can't afford the prices at their local brick and mortar. It's no secret that prescriptions can be found online for a lot less, but how do you know what you're getting is the real deal and not some counterfeit medication sold at a much lower price?
We all know there are a ton of Canadian Pharmacies online, but did you know there's any such thing as the Canadian Pharmacy Escrow Service? It's a service that helps insure that you not only receive the best price for your medications, but they also make sure you're receiving exactly what you need instead of some fake ripoff version.
The escrow service isn't a pharmacy, but they work with fully licensed pharmacies to save you money by forcing the pharmacies to compete for your business. That means you could save anywhere from 40-90% off your medications while at the same time knowing you're getting a product that is genuine, not some fake.
I may just have to mention this to my Grandma. There's no way she should be paying $100 for 1 tube of generic brand cream if we can get it online for much cheaper. Medication prices shouldn't be this high.

I Want It All
I hate being on a "no buy" right now. I swear whenever I'm low on cash or trying to save, that's when I start spotting cute stuff all over that I totally want to buy. I was never big on shopping until I made that first internet purchase years ago. Everything changed at that point.
I still hate shopping in stores, but I just can't help myself when it comes to shopping online. There's just so much stuff out there that deserves to be in my possession! I'll tell you there is one online shopping community that will bankrupt me one day, and that's Etsy. Some days I wish I'd never discovered the site because I want to buy everything!
But there's so much stuff that I love! I dream of the days when I will be financially stable enough to blow any amount I want on anything I want on Etsy. That doesn't mean that day will come, but it means it's something I will hope for...almost make a goal out of. I admit I limit myself though. I only buy things that I truly can use.
My latest Etsy purchase? I picked up a super cute purse for $10. Not only is it handmade like everything else on Etsy, but it's a celestial pattern that represents so much that I love. See, not only is it absolutely adorable, but it's useful, too!

Planning For The Birthdays
My birthday isn't until November, but I'm talking to a friend right now already planning my party. You may be asking a few questions like why is she planning her own party? Why is she planning the party now when November is so far away?
Well this year we decided to combine a bunch of birthdays into one party because so many of our friends have November birthdays. Heck my two best friends are my sister-in-law Sam, and then my other BFF, Alli. Sam's bday is the 4th and Alli's is the 26th. Mine falls somewhere in the middle, plus there are about 15 others I can think of that fall between those dates.
Throwing one big party together means not only can we all celebrate, but it'll be cheaper. Besides there have been plenty of years where I've gotten burnt out on parties by the 3rd or 4th one I've had to attend in a 2 week period.
We decided we'd go all out. We're renting out a small local club for the night, hiring a dj, and having food catered in. With so many people offering to participate we can actually afford to do that, but it's going to take some time to plan.
One of my friends is an awesome DJ out west, so he offered to dj our party if we pay for his plane ticket. I'm not telling you who he is, but I will tell you that's a steal compared to what he normally charges. Now I just have to look at flight deals to see exactly what it's going to cost us. I'm pretty sure I can find tickets for a decent price. I won't have to worry about a hotel or rental car because he's going to stay with us.
We've assigned everyone participating a task to do. I'll take care of the DJ and the venue. Another friend is looking into catering and so on. I think this is one group project we might actually be able to pull off!

Utterz
I added the Utterz.com widget back to my sidebar for 2 reasons.
1. I'm setup for cross posting, but most of the time I'm too lazy to do it, so all my Utterz go to Everyday Randomness.
2. I figured If I was going to be at the beach for 4 days it'd be nice to show off the pictures on this blog as well as my personal blog.

Sugar Crush Looks So Good!
OMG I must try this Sugar Crush body scrub. Not only does it sound absolutely deliciously awesome, but it's a Bath & Body line you can pick up at Target! Not to mention they have a Peach Body Butter that looks awesome, too. Man, I may have to make Hubby take a trip to Target today. We normally save our Target trips for special weekends when we're at the mall since the closest Target is 45 minutes away, but after seeing that body scrub we might just have to make a trip down there today.
Now I just have to convince Hubby to go. According to him the mall is this foreign place that you should have a passport to get into. He also thinks that men shouldn't be required to enter more than once a year!
Order It For Me
I might as well start calling all my family members each week to see if there's anything anyone needs me to order online. I called my father-in-law to tell him I think I found a replacement phone, and he started asking me if I could order this and that.
Most of my family members are clueless when it comes to the internet. My 40 year old aunt just got her first computer. It's a 4 year old laptop, and it took me days just to show her how to turn it on and shut it down properly. Then she ran out and bought an all in one printer. You can only imagine what it took to show her how to scan a photo and print a copy. We haven't even gotten to the internet yet.
She's what I call a QVC-aholic because she orders from QVC on a weekly basis. You can imagine her reaction when she found out they have a website! lol For now I've told her I'll order anything she needs until she learns how, so there's 2 people on my to order for list.
Then I've got my Grandma on my dad's side. She owns a computer, but she doesn't know how to turn it on. She bought it, had me set it up on the desk for her, and never touched it. She's been using a mail order company for medical supplies & personal products that she doesn't want to buy in a public store like adult diapers, but she thinks the mail order company charges too much. She's always asking me to order stuff online.
Maybe I should type up an order form and hand them out to my family members. It could have a place to list things they want to buy, price they're willing to pay, and the date they need it buy. Hmmm if they're weren't family I'd even charge a little fee for ordering the stuff lol.

Shopping For Cell Phones
Yay, I get to do some shopping this morning. Too bad it's not for me. My father-in-law's cell phone is giving him problems. His battery isn't sitting correctly in his phone anymore. I ordered him a new battery last week hoping that'd fix the problem, but it didn't. It looks like the contact points inside the phone have worn down, so the battery moves around, and his phone shuts off on him.
It's a cheap little phone...one of the cheapest camera phones you can get, and he doesn't have insurance on it. He figures it'd be cheaper to buy himself a newer better phone than to pay the $50 deductible on this cheap crappy phone. I'm his go to girl for all electronic purchases, so I get to spend some time this morning looking at unlocked cell phones.
I have to keep in mind the man doesn't know much about phones. He wants something simple. Turn it on, dial the number, make a call. He doesn't need anything fancy, but he did fall in love with having a camera on his phone. He basically thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread, and he's only had a camera phone for about 2 months. What can I say? He's behind the times.
He showed me a couple phones he likes, but I'll have to see if I can find them in an unlocked cdma version. Both phones he picked out were through a carrier that still uses GSM. All I know is I have to get him something quickly because they use their phones on a daily basis at work. This morning I stuck my old LG 9800 on his line so he'd have some type of working phone, but he looks at the phone like it's evil. He thinks it has too many buttons, and the fact that it flips open with a big screen is scary to him. lol!

Thinking About Roadside Assistance
I'm sitting here paying bills, and I just thought of something.
Tuesday night we had a flat tire. We pulled over in a church parking lot, and we were stuck changing the tire during the middle of a thunderstorm. Unfortunately the standard jack that comes with the Blazer was the only jack we had with us, and it collapsed underneath the truck causing the rear rotor to smack the ground. Hubby had just got the tire off when it collapsed. Luckily nothing was damaged, but we did have to call someone to bring us a floor jack so we could get out of the storm and home. We were only 2 miles from our house when the tire blew.
I started thinking about how lucky we are that it happened this week because that tire had been plugged. The plug popped out of it when we rolled up to a stop sign. What if the tire had held, and it had decided to blow on our way to the beach next week? If the same events took place, we would be stuck in the middle of nowhere far from home with no help.
I decided I need to look up our auto insurance online and see if I can add roadside assistance to our policy. We do have full coverage, but roadside assistance is an optional feature that we don't have. I wonder if I add the service if it'll kick in automatically or if there will be a wait period. Hmm. It's definitely worth checking out...doncha think?

Migraines & Progesterone
I had a few tarts I wanted to review today, but there's just no way. I've had a killer migraine that's kept me in bed most of the day, and my sensitivity to smells would probably mean I'd puke if I smelled the tarts again right now. I had to make a trip to the ER this morning for another shot, and even the darvocet the ER doctor gave me didn't help at all. After sleeping for about 5 hours I'm finally starting to get some relief. I'm feeling that haze and numbness that normally comes after a migraine, especially when it's one that lasts for multiple hours.
This one hit me at a weird time, and I think it was triggered by pressure change with the storms we had yesterday. They moved in quickly, dropped a good bit of rain, lowered the temperature, and moved right back out. I had warning signs a migraine was coming like pain in my neck, stabbing pains in the side of my head, and sensitivity to light, but for the most part I ignored them because this isn't when I normally get migraines.
I do tend to have them more often during this time of the year, but mine normally come around my menstrual cycle. That's why it's been suggested that I take progesterone a few days before my period. I don't know if I can do that due to my Endometriosis, but I'm definitely going to talk to my doctor about it. I do believe I read something saying progesterone would lower my fertility level though, and if that's the case I definitely don't want to start taking it now.

Baby Talk
We don't have any kids, but that doesn't mean I don't want any. I'm praying for the day that I get to be a mom, and I absolutely love looking at baby stuff. It makes me so happy when I hear a friend of ours is having a baby because that means there's going to be one more kid around for me to spoil.
It does make me a little sad that I'm not shopping for my own baby. There is so much baby stuff out there that I would love to be buying for us instead of as gifts. If I can't buy it right now I can at least make myself a wish list of baby stuff I'll want to buy when that day comes, right?
I've spent the last hour looking at strollers, and I never realized there are so many choices. Shapes and strollers have changed drastically from the old school ones I'm used to. As much as I would love to have a Bugaboo I know I'd either have to save up for one or hope Hubby's making a lot more money by then. I did find one I like better though for a much better price. I think I'd be opting for the Chicco Cortina Keyfit 30 Travel System. It's at least $200 cheaper than all the Bugaboos, and it was rated #1 for safety by Consumer Reports.
Man, looking at all this baby stuff makes me want one. Dawn, I'm jealous! You have to let me babysit your bundle of joy on a regular basis!

Heavenly Couture Shopping Spree
I went shopping online last night from the comfort of my recliner, and I ended up spending way more than I had planned. Isn't that how it always goes though? I wanted to pick up some cute new clothes for the beach, and I realized if I didn't hurry up and buy stuff soon it wouldn't get here in time for our trip.
I headed over to Heavenly Couture because I love a lot of the stuff they carry, and you just can't beat the prices on most of their items. Everything (except for denim) is $17.95 or less. It's a great store for those of us who want great style on a budget.
I broke down and bought a dress I've been drooling over forever, a white spaghetti strap dress with black and turquoise floral print. I've showed it to at least a dozen people, and I finally made up my mind to buy it. I don't wear dresses very often, and that's why I was kind of stand offish about buying it. I love this one, though, so I think I'll be wearing it a lot. I also bought a white tunic that I can wear as a shirt, dress, or swimsuit cover up. For the beach I'll use it as a cover up. I also picked up a pair of boy shorts that were on sale, a really cute cut out tie back sleeveless top that was on sale, and a couple of basic boy cut tanks. I spent right at $77 with free shipping for two dresses, 3 shirts, and a pair of shorts. That's not bad considering what'd I'd spend in most stores for the same thing.

In Need Of A Vacuum
One thing I seriously need to buy is a vacuum cleaner. I don't have carpet in my house, so I've put off buying one. If I need one for something from time to time I'll borrow my mom's, but here lately I'm finding myself needing one more and more.
A few days ago I broke a hurricane glass in the kitchen. I had to borrow my mom's vacuum yet again because I swept 4 times and still saw glass all over the floor. I took her vacuum back to her last night, but as luck would have it I need it again. Alley knocked my one living plant off the counter, and there's a total mess to clean up. I've swept, but there's still dirt in cracks and crevices that I can't get to with the broom. I need to either borrow the vacuum again, or I can hit it with the toothbrush. I choose option A.
I do want to buy my own vacuum. I've got a ton of space bags that I'm not using just because I don't have a vac to suck the air out. I really like the Sebo vacuums I've been looking at, but I know I'll have to find something cheaper than that for now. Either that or I can wait until I can save up enough to get one of the Sebos.
