Pregnancy, Sickness, and Weight Gain

I have a friend who just found out she's pregnant, and she's having a rough time. What tipped her off to being pregnant is how sick she's been getting because she's one of those women who was still having her period 8 weeks into the pregnancy.

She came over tonight to see if I would share some herbal tea with her. Her ob/gyn told her herbal tea is good for soothing her nausea as long as she's drinking something without any caffeine. I gladly shared a couple bags of herbal non caffeinated teas I have that are supposed to be good for nausea. I went ahead and made a couple cups, and we sat around talking about the baby, her pregnancy, stuff like that.

She loves that she's pregnant. She's been trying to have a baby for awhile, and she'd finally gotten to the point where she'd given up trying. She knew if it was meant to happen it would.

She admitted that there's one thing she's kind of upset about though. After she gave up on trying to get pregnant she decided to get back in shape. She dropped a lot of weight with exercise and diet pills. I think she said she was using Fenterdren, but I might be wrong.

Anywho, she finally got her body back into the shape that she wanted it, and then she finds out she's pregnant. I understand where she's coming from. A lot of women have issues over the weight they gain when they're pregnant, but she's going to keep herself healthy by exercising and doing Yoga while she's pregnant. Not only will it help her lose the baby weight faster, but staying healthy gives your baby a better chance at being healthy. I let her borrow my Yoga dvd for the rest of the week, and we've decided starting next week we're going to have our own personal Yoga class. It'll motivate us both to keep up with the exercises having a friend there to encourage each other.

Litter Kitty

Alley and I are having a little bit of an argument this morning. He's currently hiding under the bed fearing my wrath. I've caught him playing in his litter box twice this morning since I changed the litter.

I swear it doesn't matter what kind of litter box I have, he's going to make a mess. We have two boxes actually. The one in the bathroom is an enclosed box, and he seems to kick more litter of out it than the open one in the utility room.

This morning he's purposely making a mess though. I'll here him pouncing around in the box, scratching, and making little noises. I walk into the bathroom, and he takes off running. It's becoming a game to him, and I think he enjoys watching me clean up the mess.

Pebble Creek Candles Gel Tassie Melts

I love these melts! Ok I admit I love just about all melts, but I especially love these Gel Tassie Melts from Pebble Creek Candles.

A twist on plain gel wax tarts. We handpour scented gel wax into 2 oz cups and sprinkle soy crumbles on top for an extra kick of scent.

Not only do they smell wonderful, but I love how easy it is to cleanup gel melts. You just pop them in your tart burner, enjoy them, let it solidify again, then just peel them out when you're done.

These tarts were the perfect size for my smaller burner, too. Most of the time I have to cut tarts down for my smaller burner because it overflows and spills everywhere after the tart melts. As you can see in the photo these fit perfectly. The photo shows the Watermelon Sherbet tart in my smaller burner. I've been enjoying it a couple hours a night for about a week now, and the warm throw is still pretty good.

I haven't burned the lavender dreams yet simply because I have to be in a certain mood for most lavender scents. It does smell good though, and the cold throw is wonderful. Hubby asked me if I would put the tart in the bedroom, so I opened it and placed it in one of the book shelves built into our headboard.

If you're looking for a nice gel tart, I'd say give these a try. Single tarts are $2 each, but you can also buy a 6 pack for $11.75.

Behind The Times

I don't get to speak to my Grandma on my Dad's side of the family much, but when I do she cracks me up. She called me this morning and left me a message that I just had to laugh at. Poor Grandma. She's just not up with today's technology.

See, for my cell phone voicemail I don't use the normal voicemail service that comes with Verizon. I use a free service called YouMail. Not only is it free, but it gives you a lot of options for your voicemail service.

There's the option to "ditch" callers from numbers you don't know or don't want to hear from. This is also handy if you receive a lot of calls from telemarketers or debt collection agencies. Basically the ditch function hangs up on the caller after playing your chosen voicemail message, and they're not allowed to leave a voicemail. I have my ditch message setup to play the "Verizon Wireless, this number is not in service" message before hanging up on them.

You have the option to setup individual messages for each person in your address book. When Hubby calls I have a pre-recorded message that tells him to leave a message because I'm probably too busy blogging to answer the phone. You can upload your own messages, or you can choose from 100's that are already on the site.

For most of my family members that don't call me a lot, I'm using what is called the "Smart Greeting".

"Smart Greetings" is the newest way to personalize your voicemail with YouMail! Your Smart Default Greeting will greet your callers with their first name if it is one of the thousands of names that YouMail recognizes. For example, if your name is Bob and your caller's name is John, it will play:

"Hello John, (your name) can't get to the phone. Please leave a message after the tone."

I've got my Grandma listed under "Nana Mattie" in my contacts, and apparently Nana is one of the thousands of names that YouMail recognizes. When she calls a computerized female voice greets her with

"Hello Nana Mattie, Jenn can't get to the phone. Please leave a message after the tone."

She left me a message all right! She left me a message yelling at me wanting to know exactly who that girl was that answered my phone and why she wouldn't let her talk to me! LMAO!

I guess I should call her back and try to explain that it's a computerized message.

Domino's Oven Baked Subs

Last night Hubby and I decided to have Dominos for dinner. We've heard a lot of people raving about how awesome the new oven baked subs are, so we wanted to try them for ourselves.

Normally we opt for delivery since we're lucky enough to be the last house they deliver to in our area, but we already had to make a trip to town. I just ordered our food online for pickup instead. My pickup time was 15-20 minutes versus the normal 45 minutes for delivery. No, they don't do the 30 minutes or less here because we live just too far away. It's a 15 minute drive from the store, and I want my pizza to actually be cooked when I receive it!

So as soon as I ordered we headed straight to town to pickup our food. My intentions were to take photos of the subs when we got them home, but the subs never made it back to the house. As soon as I opened up the box and saw my Chicken Parmesan I knew it wasn't making it, so we pulled over at the park to eat. Hubby got the Italian, and boy were the subs good. They were honestly the best subs I've had in a long time. I was full after half of my sub, but I did manage to get a few bites of Hubby's just to test it out. Hubby ended up finishing his sub and the other half of mine.

We ordered a meal deal for $19.99 that included a large 1 topping pizza so Hubby would have something to take to work today, and I would have lunch. With the deal we got the two subs for $4.35 each ($4.99 each separately), and we added extra toppings to the pizza. The entire order came to $23 and some change after taxes which is definitely not bad for us. We're used to spending at least $30 anytime we order from Dominos because of the delivery charge, and normally neither of us get as full as we did last night.

If you're thinking about trying the new subs, do it. They are absolutely awesome!

Blooddrop Clothing & Fineries Mousse de Bain

What an absolutely decadent body mousse! Blooddrop Clothing & Fineries Mousse de Bain in Cafe Zazou scent (ingredients list here) was an immediate hit in our household.

This thick and creamy whipped bath mousse already has me regretting the fact that I just stocked up on a ton of shower gel. It feels so creamy and smooth, yet it produces plenty of lather. It left my sensitive skin feeling super soft, and I didn't even feel the need for lotion after my shower.

The Cafe Zazou scent made this mousse smell so wonderful I would have eaten it if I could have!

Incredible dark and smooth French roast coffee with whole milk and two sugar cubes, a piece of dark chocolate and a petit gateau sec au marrons. Café Zazou is the perfect response for a little afternoon rest in between visiting Monmartre and Le Centre Pompidou.

It was a hit with Hubby as well. I didn't tell him I had something new to try. I just hopped in the shower and started enjoying how wonderful this body mousse is. The wonderful started to drift through the house, and it didn't take long for Hubby to follow the scent to the bathroom where he had to know what smelled so great. For hours after my shower he kept telling me I smelled like a chocolate coffee dessert!

I definitely recommend this mousse to anyone who's looking to try a body mousse. One use and you'll be hooked! You can grab an 8oz screw top jar for $14.50, and there are many different scents to choose from or you can stick with the wonderful unscented cocoa and mango butter. I love it, and I definitely recommend the Cafe Zazou if you love coffee type scents.

Crossing Off My List...DO NOT BUY

EWWWWW what's that smell? Is that really the same wax melt that smelled absolutely wonderful in the package? Yep that's it. Blue Raspberrytini from Old Virginia Candle Company.

Normally I absolutely love Old Virginia Candle Company's products. There's a specialty shop in town that carries just about every candle Old Virginia makes, and I stock up when I stop by. This time, I don't know if it was a bad batch or what, but I totally wish I hadn't bought 10 packs of the Blue Raspberrytini wax melts. They smell absolutely delicious in the package, but as soon as the first one started to melt it just didn't smell right. I crinkled up my nose (yep that same look I give my friends when they want to discuss diet pills because they think they're fat...they're far from it) and retreated to another room until the smell dispersed.

You do smell the Blue Raspberrytini fruity smell, but the warm throw is horrible. After letting it burn for over an hour I could barely smell the fruity mix 3 feet away from my tart burner. The rest of the room filled with a smell that I'd rather forget, though. It smelled like a mixture between hot wax and burning plastic. YUCK!

I'll probably be sticking the rest of these in cabinets and drawers to take advantage of the great cold throw, or I might just pawn them off on someone else. All I know is I will not be purchasing anymore wax melts from Old Virginia Candle Company. Then again it looks like I won't have to worry about it. I don't see them on the website at all. Oh wait, there are 2 gift sets that include wax melts.

If you're interested in Old Virginia Candle Company I suggest picking up a few of their Woodwick® Candles instead. The Cotton Flower smells absolutely divine.

Facing My Face

Ugh. I don't know if it's what I've been eating, my sleeping schedule, or just hormones, but my face is breaking out like crazy this week. I seriously hate acne. I dealt with it as a teenager, but it's gotten worse as I've gotten older.

There for awhile I had an all natural treatment that was working great for me, but it's stopped. Maybe it's because I was using the all natural stuff during the colder months, and now that it's hot out nothing's working.

My mother-in-law wants to take some family photos. She's a photographer, and she'll take them herself, but I keep putting it off. Just when I think my face is clearing up I get hit with another bad breakout. I will not allow myself to look like that in our family photos. My breakouts are getting to the point where I can't cover it with makeup, and I prefer not to wear makeup during breakouts in hopes my face will clear up faster. Yeah, I can edit my pimples out of photos. I do it all the time, but I don't want to have to do that. Just for once in my life I wish my face would cooperate with me.

Homemade Espresso

My sister-in-law and I have talked about buying an espresso machine to share. We both would love to have one, but there's no way we can afford to buy two espresso machines right now. Besides, we typically only tend to drink any type of coffee when we're hanging out together for the night. We used to call them our "international coffee moments" because we'd sit around all night doing girlie things, talking, and drinking the International Flavored Coffee stuff.

These days we both prefer something that isn't in a pre-made powder form, and we would both love to be able to make our on cappuccinos and lattes at home when we're having a party.

I think I might show her the Nespresso capsule espresso machines. You can get one for around $180, and they use the Nespresso capsules. It's a relatively mess free way to make espresso, and the capsules don't cost that much either. It's a little under $6 for a box of 10. Considering how often we actually drink anything with espresso it's not too bad.

Playing Frogger On The Atari

A friend of mine has been here playing Atari for a couple hours now. Yes I still have an Atari. Actually I have the Atari 2600 with 2 joystick controllers, 2 sets of paddles, and a ton of games. It'd be interesting to see how much my whole retro setup would go for on Ebay. We've been taking turns playing Frogger, but we all go tired of that.

My friend mentioned a Frogger type game he played online, but the setting is a bar. You have to make it to the bar without hitting any other drunk people, and you have to make it back to the bar with all your pints on a tray. I decided to look it up, and I found the game, Brave The Bar. I'll tell you I absolutely suck at it. I kick major butt at Frogger, but I just can't seem to make it to the bar without bumping into someone! You can take a try at it, see if you can make it to the bar.

If you're more interested in something closer to the real Frogger, but you don't want to hunt down an Atari on Ebay, you can play Frogger for free below.
