That's the sound I'm hearing coming from my kitchen right now, and it's driving me crazy. We replaced the faucet in our kitchen a few months ago, and this one is already acting up. Hubby's done everything he can, but it's constantly dripping.
It started a few days ago. I turned off the hot water, but a steady little stream kept coming out. As soon as Hubby got home from work I told him about it, he did whatever it is he does, and it stopped leaking.
That didn't last long though. Later that night it started again, and we've had a continuous drip all weekend. I think we're just going to have to get yet another new faucet. I think this time I'm going to go ahead and buy one of the pretty Danze faucets I like. Maybe our problem is we keep buying the cheap crappy ones as a quick fix.
Giving Exercise Another Try
Yesterday a friend of mine called me begging me to get a gym membership with her. She's wanting to lose weight, and she wants to join a gym, but she doesn't want to join alone. In a way I can understand that...girls travel in packs and all that...but why should I have to join a gym and spend my hard earned cash just because she wants to join one? After listening to every excuse in the book I told her no.
Hubby and I both do want to lose weight. We've been talking about definitely working on getting ourselves into a more healthy state, but I honestly have to admit if I joined a gym it'd be a waste of cash. I'd never go.
I don't do well with diet pills. Half the time I don't even know if they really work, and some of them scare me. There are also all those new ones on the market like Ephedrasil Hardcore that are supposed to also give you some kind of natural high. No thanks. If I want a natural high I'll ride the bike for an adrenaline rush.
I do need to start working out more often though. For awhile I was doing pretty well. I had started using my Yoga DVD, and I was going to my aunt's house a couple times a week to use the mini gym she's setup in her basement. She's got a bike, treadmill, ad machine, stuff like that. I've slacked off, though, and I've found myself spending more time sitting on my ass than anything.
I've started a new routine with Hubby. We're walking everyday now, weather permitting. We don't really live in a neighborhood where we can walk on the road, but it's too far and costs too much to drive to the park everyday. Because of that I'm taking advantage of my Grandparent's extremely long driveway. Including the walk to their house and back to ours, 5 laps up and down their driveway equals a mile.
I think the best part is it doesn't feel the same as walking around the track at the local park. I don't feel like I'm actually doing some kind of workout. I guess a lot has to do with the fact that I'm in my natural surroundings. I'm even thinking about pulling my old Rollerblades out to see if they're still in working condition. I know they're in my Grandparent's basement somewhere, and I think that would be a great workout rollerblading up and down their driveway.
We're currently completing a mile a day, but I think by the end of next week I'm going to try to bump it up to 2 miles. If Hubby doesn't want to walk that much with me each day at least I've got a safe place to walk. I might even try to start taking the dog up there for a walk in the mornings, but I definitely can't do a full mile. Being a bulldog he makes the walk to their house, then he's ready to pass out on the porch for a quick nap.
Now I just need to motivate myself to do some crunches or something that will tone my stomach up. That's really my worst feature, and I really need to do something about it.

Startup Schwag Bag # 10
What's in ze bag?
I gave a hint yesterday about what I received in my schwag bag when I posted on a photo of one of the shirts I received on Everyday Randomness, but I've been so busy this week I just haven't had a chance to get a post up!
The truth is I was so busy I didn't check my mail for 2 days. My schwag bag may have arrived Monday or it could have been Tuesday, but I didn't get a chance to check the mail until Wednesday morning. I probably wouldn't have grabbed it then if I hadn't noticed my mailbox was so full the door was hanging open!
I was pleasantly surprised to see two t-shirts in the bag this month, although I think one of them won't be worn around my mother. That would be the Zivity, but I know there are others, like my mother, who don't agree. She'll have a big enough problem with the fact that the shirt says "It's not porn". The word "porn" would set her off. I on the other hand think the shirt is very catchy, and I'll be rocking it like crazy.
I like the idea of Zivity, but maybe that's because I greatly appreciate pin-up style art and nude artwork that shows the beauty of a woman's body apposed to porn type photos. I use a lot of nude artwork and pinup style artwork in the website designs I do, which is mainly why you never see my design work on my actual sites.
Zivity is in beta stages right now, and accounts are only available to a limited number of photographers and women who would like to "model" on the site. Any woman can choose to find a photographer she would like to work with, take photos in the way she feels comfortable, and post them on the site to earn money...which you can read about on the site.
The site has strict guidelines for the photography, and they do allow nude photography but only if it follows their guidelines. The concept is to show the beauty of all women, not just stick thin models. I also like the fact that Zivity will be a subscription service once it's fully launched, and no photos are available without the subscription. That also helps to keep prying underage eyes from viewing things they shouldn't.

The other shirt found in my bag this month is a Plurk shirt! I've slowly started to make the transition from Twitter to Plurk. I prefer Plurk, but I was having trouble reminding myself to stop by the site to post since there isn't an external program or browser plugin. My problems were solved when I did find a small Firefox extension that puts Plurk in your sidebar. If you're looking for a way to interact with your friends online or time line your life without all the problems of Twitter try Plurk! If you're interested you can add me as a friend!
I do promise to post photos of me actually wearing the shirts at a later time. I just don't look anywhere near decent enough for photos this morning. After a shower and some makeup I'll reconsider.
Last but not least there was the handful of typical stickers for various companies thrown in the bag.

This month's stick assortment consisted of Armor Games, Magnify, Nimbuzz!, PriceAdvance, and Zilok. Now your mission is to check out the one's you've never heard of to see which of these services might be useful to you. I'll definitely be checking out Nimbuzz!.

Over Thinking My Purchase
Sometimes I drive myself crazy with online shopping due to the over abundance of information at my fingertips. Is it possible to find too much information? When I go to a store I see a product, touch it, play with it, and decide whether I want to buy it or not. Usually I get home, read a review for a similar product at a cheaper price, discover the cheaper product has better reviews, and I hate myself for not checking out the first one before buying.
I'm a very analytical person. Most of the time I don't impulse buy. I'll over-analyze every single possible aspect of the purchase. Like I've said before, I'm the girl who spent not months but years researching every possible cell phone carrier out there when I wanted to purchase a phone from Verizon. I wanted to make sure I was getting the best possible plan for my money and best service in my area. I could have saved myself years by just buying the thing on impulse.
I think the fact I want to check out every aspect of something gets me in trouble sometimes when I'm shopping online. Having so much information at my fingertips throws me off. Right now I know I need to buy a new sound system for my computer. Ok I don't need to buy it, but I really want to buy it. My speakers still work, but my subwoofer went kaput. I've known it's been slowly dieing for awhile now, but I've dealt with it until this week when I turned on my music and had no bass at all. This girl needs bass, but the transformer is blown.
My old system is the Altec Lansing ADA745 and wow, those speakers rock. I haven't been able to find anything that can compare, but I know I've got to get something else. These speakers lasted me 5 years, and it's sad to see them go.
I went to a few different sites, found a few systems in my price range that are equal to or better than the one I currently have (I'm refuse to downgrade), then I set out on my search for product reviews and stores with the best price. I finally made up my mind that I wanted to buy the Logitech G51 system. In the beginning everything I read about these speakers was great. I was reading hundreds of 4 and 5 star reviews telling me these are everything I need. I still didn't purchase them, though, because I wanted to double check with Hubby. I wanted to make sure he agrees they're awesome.
So Hubby came home from work and asked about the speakers I found. I went to Newegg to see if they had them, pulled them up, and immediately the reviews on Newegg started to turn me away from these speakers. It's like if I read 100 positive reviews, 2 negative reviews still make me want to run in the other direction. Now I don't know what I'm going to buy. I'm afraid to buy these because I don't want to get them and realize I wasted $130 on something I don't like.
Hubby says I over-think everything too much. Of course, he's an impulse buyer.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith Edition
Yep, when we went to Walmart that one thing we argued over was a new game. I finally gave in and let Hubby buy Guitar Hero Aerosmith Edition. I went back and forth about buying this one because I've been reading reviews.
A lot of gamers have called this a crappy attempt at a new version that should have been an expansion pack to Guitar Hero III. I kind of agree. There are a little over 40 songs, most of which are Aerosmith songs, but a lot of my favorites were left out.
Being that Hubby and I are both huge Aerosmith fans the game is still good for us though. Not only do we now have to opportunity to play a few of our favorites, but we're also expanding our Guitar Hero choices. We're not stuck with the same old songs over and over again. This brought something fresh to our gaming experience.
If you're looking for new features, the game totally doesn't have any. I wasn't, so I'm not disappointed in that area. I've also seen a lot of people complaining about the price of the game considering it is shorter than all of the other Guitar Hero games. We picked up the special edition bundle (the only one in stock) for $99.99.
That wasn't too bad for us for the simple fact that we grabbed the PS2 version, and we didn't have any controllers. Hubby wants to be able to play it with his dad, and he hates having to lug the XBOX 360 to his parents house every time he wants to play. Now he can just throw the guitars and the game in the truck and go. The special edition came with two guitars which aren't cheap, so that justified our purchase. Unless you want to go about following the tutorial on how to make your own PS2 Guitar Hero controller, you're going to spend $30-50 for each guitar separately.
As for the game, there are a few extras that don't involve game play that are worth it for the avid Aerosmith fan. There are band interview videos, although they are few and far between. Even though the characters and guitars are identical to those in Guitar Hero III, you now have the option to play as members of Aerosmith and with their own collections of guitars. I give them props for making sure both Steven Tyler and Joe Perry look as much like their characters as possible. Steven Tyler's signature lips are over emphasized in many of the cartoon images, and it was kind of fun to laugh at.
Overall I'm still not very impressed with the game. It's targeted for die hard fans of Aerosmith or die hard fans of Guitar Hero. Hubby and I kind of fall into both categories, so we can still enjoy playing the game although the difficulty level is seriously lacking. Even though neither of us are medium players, we both made it through half the set list on Expert with no problems.
Overall I give this game 3 1/2 stars. If you're an Aerosmith fan you'll appreciate it, but unless you're new to Guitar Hero or are just looking for more songs to expand your experiences pass this one by. You'll be disappointed.
Lazy Days & Late Night Shopping
Hubby and I have had an interesting weekend. I feel like we've done absolutely nothing...and that's because we haven't. We had already decided we were going to spend the weekend doing something together, and that's exactly what we did. We have been extremely lazy.
I'm still recovering from a stomach bug I picked up last week that's had me pretty down. Every time I think I'm over it, it hits me one more time. After all the early morning drama Saturday morning we decided to chill at home and play a few video games together. We actually spent most of the day playing Frets on Fire. Rock Band and Guitar Hero have gotten old because we know all the songs. With Frets on Fire we can download new songs to keep the game from feeling old, and our XBOX 360 guitars plug right in via usb. You just need the driver.
By the afternoon I was tired of that, so I did do a little housework. I did a few loads of laundry, a load of dishes, cleaned the bathroom, then I made a shopping list. I wanted to hit up the Family Dollar for a few things I needed, but I walked through the bedroom and caught something interesting on tv. I laid down on the bed for a few minutes to watch, and the next thing I knew I was asleep.
Hubby caught me taking a nap and decided to join me. Man did we sleep. What should have been a short nap turned into us waking up around 8:30pm. Then again I didn't sleep at all Friday night, so I can understand why.
When we woke up we both fiddled around with other things for awhile then decided to grab a bite to eat, so we headed to Waffle House around 11pm. I took my shopping list with me because I really needed some of the things I put on my list (like I was totally out of shampoo), so we had to hit up the only store that was open past midnight, Walmart.
Now I'm not a fan of Walmart, and I try to avoid it at all costs, but sometimes it's just hard to do. Besides I needed to get a couple things that I can't find at the regular old dollar store. I've been thinking about purchasing some promotional pens for my business, but I settled for purchasing more business card paper this time. My business cards do well, and I don't think I'm ready to take the leap into the pens yet.
So after we grabbed the essential things we needed I headed off to the office supplies while Hubby took off to electronics. That's never good because if I don't drag him out of electronics he'll come back with a buggy full of stuff we don't need.
He almost did that. He did come back with something we don't need, but we've both been wanting. I wasn't planning on buying it this week, but dealing with Hubby in Walmart is like dealing with a 2 year old pitching a public hissy fit, so I gave in after arguing for a few minutes.
What did we buy? You'll just have to stay tuned to find out!

It's Pay Day!
I've been out of it for a few days because of sickness and personal issues with the family, but I'm back now. Being sick I haven't worked any this week, so money is tight. I sat down to budget out what cash we have left to get through this week, and I just realized it's Friday. Well there's one crisis averted.
Being Friday also means it's payday from my "other" job. I get paid every other two weeks, but this being a pay week really helps out. Hubby normally covers the bills while my cash is our "fun money", but this week it's going to buy some things I really need. This is one of those weeks where I've ran out of just about all of my cleaning supplies, and I need to pick up a few personal items. I was going to try to buy a steam mop this weekend, but I think I'll hold off on that. I want to try a new acne cream my sis-in-law recommended to me, and then I need to stock up on some of the little things that I buy in bulk like shampoo, conditioner, trash bags, and Simple Green.
If you haven't tried Simple Green, give it a try. I absolutely love it. It's super safe to use around kids and pets since it's non-toxic and biodegradable. I use Simple Green for almost all my cleaning these days. If you're looking for all natural products they have a Naturals line as well.

Buying A Foreclosed Home
I'm having an insomnia night tonight, and that really sucks. I've got a full day planned with a ton of stuff to do today, but it's already 5:12am. I haven't slept at all.
I'm supposed to go with my sister-in-law this morning to look at a couple foreclosure listings, but I might have to back out. She's been trying to find a house in her price range for months without any luck. A friend mentioned a couple houses she knows about that are in foreclosure, so we thought maybe that's the route she should take.
There are also a ton of listings online. I've noticed with most of the foreclosed home websites, you have to sign up to see the actual details of the listing like information on the condition of the house and photos, but they give you the address as part of the free information. I made a list of all the homes I found in our area, and if she doesn't like either of these we're going to drive by these I've found. If she likes the look of them, then I can get more information on what bank the foreclosure is through.
She has to be careful though. Foreclosed homes are great buys if you can find a good one, but sometimes you can get stuck with a bigger problem than it's worth. The homes are sold by the bank that foreclosed on them, so they're all sold as-is. It's also harder to convince a bank to haggle on the price because they believe you're already getting a deal. In most cases you are if the house is in good condition.
We'll just have to see how it goes tomorrow. If I can make myself go to sleep in the next hour then I'll just ask her to wait until later in the day to look at these properties. I don't want to sleep all day, but I do need to grab a little sleep. My body feels dead tired. It's my mind that's wide awake.

It's Not The Real Stuff...
but it's pretty darn good! I'm talking about Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese and the Ready To Eat Cheesecake Filling.
Now, first of all I'll admit it tastes nothing like the real thing. I do love just about any cheesecake you can throw at me though, and I'll never turn down a slice. A few weeks ago a friend of mine told me to try the Ready To Eat Cheesecake Filling if I wanted to make a quick cheesecake. You just put it in the pie shell, and it's ready to go.
I tasted it, and I loved it. I could make a real cheesecake that tastes much better, but I don't always have the time to make a real cheesecake from scratch. I wanted to get Hubby's opinion on the ready to eat filling, so I bought a tub tonight. Forget about adding it to a pie shell. He sat on the couch and ate half the container!
It looks like Philadelphia Ready To Eat Cheesecake filling is a huge hit in our household. I made myself a bagel tonight and used some of the filling instead of the cheesecake cream cheese spread I normally buy. Not only does the filling spread much easier, but it tastes more like cheesecake.
It also comes in chocolate, so I'm going to use this stuff next week. I have to meet with a client who told me about a small business opportunity she came up with, so we're going to have dinner to sit down and discuss it. She's cooking dinner which leaves me in charge of bringing dessert. I think I'll get some of those mini tart shells and fill them with this stuff. I might even freeze the shells with the filling inside, then dip them in some quick melt chocolate. Ooooh I bet that would be so good. I'm already thinking of 1000 ways I could use this filling!

The Hottest Swimsuits of 2008
With summer in full swing it's definitely swimsuit season. There are so many different styles of swim wear out there that not everyone likes the same thing, but how do you feel about the latest in swim wear fashion? I just watched a video from Associated Press highlighting some of the styles of the season, and honestly I didn't see a single swimsuit that I would wear. Maybe it's because I'm a girl that's got curves, or maybe I just don't have great taste, but I just didn't like any of them.
Check out the video, then tell me what you think about this summer's swimsuit styles. Would you wear any of them? Which was your favorite? Which one(s) did you hate?

Goodwill Shopping Finds
Anyone who's read any of my blogs for awhile knows I've been begging Hubby to build me an extra desk for years. He started it, but he never got around to finishing it. You know how it goes. The carpenter never builds anything at home, just like the mechanic's car is never running and the electrician's home has faulty wiring. They don't want to work once they get home!
I finally decided to break down and buy myself a table or desk that I could use for the "guest computer". Yes, I have a guest computer because so many people come over here asking to use my computer whether it's a family member who's kid needs to do a school project or a friend wanting to search for used Harleys. There's always someone here wanting to use a computer, so I keep one older pc setup just for them. That way I don't have to go cleaning mine up every time someone downloads something they shouldn't. I also don't have to stop what I'm doing to let them use mine.
So, today I made a trip to a few of the local thrift stores. The local Goodwill is always great about having a ton of furniture, and my mom is always raving about the stuff she finds. I hit the jackpot. I found an Ikea corner unit for $30! It's the Alve from Ikea in black-brown, and it'll fit perfectly in the corner in my guest room. Of course I can't move it in there just yet since Hubby's in the guest room right now tearing the bike's carbs apart, but it'll be the perfect solution for what I need.
I guess I learned my lesson. Stop waiting around for Hubby to build what I need. Just keep checking the thrift stores until I luck up on another $400 find for $30!

Stuffed Pig
How's everyone doing today? I hope you all had a great 4th of July if you live in the US. If you didn't, I still hope you've had a great weekend!
I ate so much at our family's cookout tonight I'm still stuffed! We had a great time hanging out, grilling, swimming, shooting fireworks, and just being together. It's 4am, and I'm just rapping up my day...and I still feel like I ate a whole pig by myself! I need to convince Hubby to let me buy some equipment for home gyms because if I keep eating like this I'm really going to need it! I do have a ski machine that I never use. I might have to dig that out of the closet...at least for a couple days. But that would involve asking Hubby to help me put it together, and I don't think that's going to happen!
Well I'm going to try to head to bed, so see you all soon!
