When I Feel Better

I'm trying to get the rest of the reviews written up for the last of the products in the Out of The Box Sampler from Candle Buzz, but you'll have to be patient with me. I feel like total crap today, and earlier this morning I had to go get an antihistamine shot because my prescription allergy meds just aren't working.

As much as I would love to be able to share how awesome some of these other products are, I honestly can't smell anything right now. I'm not going to give you a review of a product if I can't tell you how it smells!

Candle Buzz Box Pt 2: The Soaps

Today I want to tell you about some of the wonderful soaps I received in the Candle Buzz box this month. Some people would be disappointed to find out they've already tried soaps from all the retailers who included soap samples this month, but not me. I was very happy to see who participated in this month's box because I already know how well the soap works or doesn't work. This also gave me an opportunity to try different scents from my favorite soap etailers!

*~~~~~~~~~~*
From Hibiscus City Soap Co. I received a huge sample size of moisture rich natural soap in "Earth". Jesse Baierl owns Hibiscus City Soap Co., and she can tell you herself that I love her soaps. You can read a review I wrote previously about her wonderful handmade soaps, and this one is no exception. Bubba loves these soaps, too! I'm adding it to my list of scents for future orders. I will tell you if you don't have time to read the full review I previously wrote, at least know this. This soap lasts forever. I've been using the same bar for over 3 months, and yes I do bathe everyday! I admit I don't use this soap every day, but I use it at least 3-4 times a week when I'm not testing other products.

*~~~~~~~~~~*

From Rain Barrel Soap I received a travel size bar of Hand Milled Lavender Soap. Rain Barrel is another of my favorites although I haven't ordered anything from the site yet. That's because I have a ton of travel size soaps just that I've received from my boxes, and I normally end up putting these out for guests. The soap is great. It didn't dry my skin out which is a huge plus, and it left me feeling clean and smooth while smelling great! I will definitely be using this soap soon because lavender is known for helping with acne problems and anxiety...I suffer from both.

*~~~~~~~~~~*

Last but not least I received a sample size Coconut Lime Verbena Silk & Shea Soap from Park Avenue Creations (told ya you'd hear about this company again!). This etailer is new to me, so of course I had to try it out! The soap is great! Not only does it smell great, but it left my hands feeling nice and smooth. It produced plenty of suds which is something I find lacking in a lot of shea soaps. I will definitely be ordering more in the future! I've already spotted a sun and moon guest soap set on the site that I'm dieing to have!

Penny Lane Candles

It's 6am, my house is totally quiet except for the sounds of me typing, and I'm absolutely loving how wonderful my house smells right now. Nope I didn't go on a cleaning spree. I just decided to try out the soy melts I received from Penny Lane Candles.

We all know I'm a sucker for a good wax melt, and these are absolutely awesome! Penny Lane Candles included a full size 6 pack of these break and melt soy melts in "Bird of Paradise" scent. I've never smelled another candle or tart that smelled like this. When I fired up my tart burner last night I sat back and waited for the scent to drift through the house. As soon as it drifted into the living room Hubby said "it smells like a tropical drink".

I have to agree with him. These wax melts are all fruity, but not in a really sweet icky way. I feel like I'm sitting on a beach somewhere sipping on something pretty and fruity. I've had the burner going all night, and 3 tea light candles later the throw is still as wonderful as it was right after the wax melt melted.

I'm definitely adding this to my favorites list, and I'll have to order more soon. Penny Lane Candles is updating their website, but these smell so good it's worth the wait.

Now I'm off to order my best friend's laptop memory before I get lost in my own little dream of paradise!

Candle Buzz Etailers Pt 1

I'm going to start by telling you about the sponsors of this month's Candle Buzz box and the wonderful products they included for us. Then I'll also be sharing my thoughts on another product I just tried, a lip balm from Park Ave. Creations.

Let's start with Box Sponsor Dine's Boutique/Pets ~n~ Pewter. This is one of the etailers participating this month who doesn't own a bath/body/candle type shop, and I am very happy to see the goodies provided! Dine's Boutique is a shop for the pets in our life, and gives us a great way to pamper them! She also carries pewter items that have been showcased on Paula Deen's show on the Food Channel such as measuring cups, spoons, salad servers, and canisters.

When I opened the box I immediately spotted TWO dog collars (in pink), and an "Ultra-Bright Pet Light". I ran into the office and pulled Hubby off the computer to show him the pet light because I've been telling him forever now that I needed to buy one of these for Bubba. He's very dark brindle, and at night he blends in. You can see him at all until he turns around and his white parts catch the light. He's gotten away from me easily at night when I didn't have his leash on him, so this is great!

The two included collars are for small dogs, but since they are both two small for Bubba I forced asked Alley to model for us. He doesn't know it's pink, so he's ok with it. lol

So here are the products.

And of course we have our lovely models...

Both are already wearing the products, but it's kind of hard to see. Alley didn't want to cooperate, but I did finally snap a decent shot of him with the collar.

Bubba was a little easier to photograph although he didn't want to stay still. Here we see what the light looks like outside during the day.

And even though I haven't gotten any shots yet of it working at night, I was able to make it blink for a shot. He's easy to photograph when he's sprawled out in the floor "chillin' with the boys".

My only issue is that I can't let him walk around inside the house with his harness on if I don't want to kill the batteries very quickly. An extra battery was included (thank you!) and each battery provides about 110 hours of power, but he will still run the battery down quickly. Whenever he walks into any room that is slightly dark, the light goes off.

Hubby was complaining when trying to go to bed because Bubba kept walking through the bedroom blinking! Lol I thought it was pretty funny, and it proves we will definitely never lose him in the dark again!

Next we have Box Sponsors Melissa's Specialty Soap and More Bang For Your Buck.

More Bang For Your Buck provided us with a gorgeous 2008 calendar (pictured above) filled with antique maps. I'm a sucker for calendars, and I have them all over my house...now if I could just remember to write things down! I do however collect calendars, and I use the images in many of my craft projects. This is a very beautiful calendar!

Melissa's Specialty Soap provided us with wax popable scent shots in Sugar Cookies, Rum Caramel, and Blueberry Muffin.

Oh my lord these smell good! I've had the Sugar Cookies tart in my burner for a couple hours now, and it smells really wonderful. The scent has traveled through the house, and the throw is awesome but not overpowering. We have family spending the weekend with us, and my cousin walked into the kitchen because he thought I was baking cookies!

I will be interested to see what kind of scent throw these tarts have after they burn for more than a few hours, but I think I'm going to like them. The wax was soft, so the tart melted fairly quickly, and 1 scent shot fit perfectly in the more shallow warmer in my kitchen.

*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

Last but not least we have one more product tonight from Park Avenue Creations. You will be hearing about more wonderful products from this company later, but tonight I had to check out the tube of Wintermint Lip Balm (pictured above). I'm a sucker for lip balm since I tend to have dry chapped lips a lot no matter what season it is.

In the summer I spend a lot of time with my head in a motorcycle helmet, and you wouldn't believe how much that can dry your lips out. The wind gets sucked up through the bottom of the helmet, and since I use a nose guard on the inside of my helmet to prevent my visor from fogging, my lips take a beating from all that wind.

So far I'm liking this lip balm. It smells wonderful and minty, but it's not a very strong scent. I can't stand minty scents that are too strong, so I like this. There really isn't a taste to the lip balm, and it feels really nice. I applied it once about 2 hours ago, and I haven't felt the need to reapply. My lips feel smooth and hydrated. I will definitely be throwing this tube in my purse for daily use!

Candle Buzz Box April 2008

My Candle Buzz Out Of The Box sampler box arrived today! I've been waiting for this one because I knew it would be jam packed full of tons of great goodies. I will be reviewing each and every item in this box, and although it might take me a couple weeks to get through them, I promise I've already taken all the photos this time. You won't have to wait around for my crappy camera to work it's magic.

The box is absolutely jam packed this month! Ignore the yellow stuff that seems to be floating to the side of the photo. I needed Hubby to hold the calendar in place, and he wanted to cover his hand so it didn't take away from the box lol!

I know I've complained before about how I was getting tired of seeing fliers from companies without products (after all people are paying to receive these samples), but I didn't have any of that in this box! I was quite happy to see it since it's becoming a very negative aspect of a few of the other sample boxes out there for sale.

I've said before, and I'll say it again. The Candle Buzz boxes are my favorite of all the sample boxes. A majority of the samples are full size products, and I get a good mix of stuff. As much as I love bath & body stuff, candles and tarts have my heart. With a Hubby who comes home from work with really stinky feet and two pets in the house, I want my house to smell good!

Now there's an Out Of The Box Sampler Blog where you can read reviews of some of these awesome products, participate in little games to win coupons, and get to know Dawn, the woman who puts these wonderful boxes together for us! Stop by and check out the blog while I work on my reviews for you guys!

Could Text Messaging Save Your Life?

Wow the texting conversation with my best friend took a very interesting turn. I was telling her about the medical id bracelet I've thought about buying my sister in law. She's a diabetic, and there have been quite a few times she had a medical emergency, but the paramedics didn't check her wallet to see her diabetic medical card thing she carries. It doesn't really help if they can't see it.

We started talking about technology and the way technology today has advanced medical services. Years ago I could have ordered a bracelet with a symbol on it that says that person is a diabetic, but today I can order bracelets that can be engraved with all the person's information. Then there are the alert bracelets that contact 911 for you.

My friend just out of the blue said "Wouldn't it be cool if you could text message 911?"

It made sense to me. Sometimes you could find yourself in a situation where actually talking on the phone could put you in danger, but sending a text message could save your life. She asked if I knew if you could do that, so of course I googled it.

I was amazed to see how many cities are trying to incorporate texting into their emergency systems. A few are even trying to incorporate picture messaging.

Imagine the possibilities. Say you can see a robbery in progress at a nearby location. How easy would it be to catch the robbers on camera?

Better yet, I've heard of some young women snapping photos of their dates when going on a date with someone new for the first time. They then send the photo to their friends, and the friends can use the photo if something goes wrong. Imagine taking a picture of a potential raper, and being able to send it to 911 before the actual raping could occur!

I think it's a great idea, and I would love to see text and picture messaging incorporated into all 911 emergency systems. It could save someone's life...just look at how text messaging helped students get word out during the Virginia Tech shootings.

Another Late Night

I am really freakin' bored tonight. I tried to keep myself up most of the day so I would sleep tonight, but as usual that didn't work. I ended up sleeping well into the evening, especially since my internet was out, so here I am again at 2am wide awake.

My best friend is texting me to keep herself awake since she has to work 3rd shift tomorrow night. If I could switch sleeping schedules with her I'd gladly do it, but as we were just discussing I wouldn't switch pets.

My fat and lazy bulldog is passed out asleep beside me while her excitable weimaraner puppy with way too much energy is running through the house like mad. He chewed through the HDMI cable she just replaced a couple weeks ago, so now she's got to buy another one. Saying that basically means I have to buy her another one because she's clueless when it comes to anything electronics. She took a picture of the old cable and sent it to me saying "I need this".

Friday Feast April 25th

Yes it's been awhile since I hit up any memes, so here's a big 'ole Friday Feast for ya!

Appetizer

Name something you would categorize as weird.

Sorry Anna, but I think it's weird that you have a pet possum...excuse me opossum...this country girl just isn't used to saying that lol.

Soup

What color was the last piece of food you ate?

Yellow & white. We had omelets from dinner.

Salad

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy being alone?

That depends on my mood. Sometimes I'd say 10 because I value my quiet alone time, like when I'm trying to work, but other times I really want people around

Main Course

Fill in the blank: I will _________ vote for ___________ in _______.

I will not tell you who I will vote for this year in any election. I don't talk politics on any of my blogs.

Dessert

Describe your sleeping habits.

Sleep is overrated. lol Ok so I do sleep, but I have no set pattern. Sometimes I sleep at night, sometimes during the day, it just all depends on what my body does. The past few week's I've slept all day and stayed up all night, but that's sure to change. It always does. My body likes swing shifts.

He Ate My Picture

I ordered a new battery for my phone today, and now I'm trying to get in the habit of taking pictures all the time. My photography skills suck. My mother in law is a professional photographer, so she suggested I start taking random shots of things around the house to help me improve my skills.

I've got my camera charged up and ready to go, so I figured I'd start by taking photos of the omelets I made for dinner. Yeah it's a breakfast kind of night for us. I was too lazy to make much else. I took my time creating the perfect omelet to photograph, but my phone rang, so I had to take off to get that.

I talked to my best friend on the phone for about 5 minutes, then I headed back to the kitchen to snap a few shots. Where'd my omelet go? I walked into the living room and there sat Hubby with an empty plate in front of him. He ate the one omelet I told him not to touch!

I guess I'll have to try again with tomorrow's dinner! Let's just hope he doesn't eat it before I can take pictures. Do they make a drug rehab type program for men who are bottomless pits? If so I need to send Hubby!

The Hair Picture

Ok I finally got around to getting a photo of how my hair looks. I had to use the camera phone for this one since (of course) the battery didn't hold up in the Kodak.

*Please ignore the fact that it's almost 2am, I'm makeup-less, and I look like I could definitely use some hoodia.

As you can see from the photo, my hair didn't turn out too bad after using this shampoo, but my hair feels extremely dry. Do remember I had to throw some of my own salon grade leave in conditioner and flat iron cream in my hair as well.

The shampoo did leave me with a lot of extra body, but I flat iron my hair because I have too much body with my already wavy thick hair. If I don't my hair is a poofy wavy mess (and that's one photo you won't see!). Yep, I even used my wonderful The Croc flat iron early this morning, and you can see my hair is still nice and straight at 2am!

Oatmeal Honey Vanilla Shampoo & Shaving Bar by Blue House Soaps

Hubby's outside using my camera while it's got some juice. He's taking photos of our exterior shutters since they're old and crappy. He's going to make me some new ones at work, but he wanted photos for reference since I want them to look pretty much like the ones we have now.

While he's doing that I don't have photos of how my hair looks to share, but I did find some photos I snapped a couple weeks ago of the bar shampoo product I wanted to share.

I'm talking about Oatmeal Honey Vanilla 100% Handcrafted Shampoo and Shaving Bar from Blue House Soaps. I received this as a sample pack, and included in the pack was also the Natural Detangler & Leave-in Conditioner Spray also in Oatmeal Honey Vanilla.

When I saw this sample I thought I was going to love it. I love most oatmeal honey type smells, but after I sniffed this stuff I changed my mind. The scent is ok, but it's not something I prefer. I decided if I liked how it worked I would be able to live with the smell, but it's not a scent I'd order for myself.

I fiddled with the wrapping on the soap for a good 10 minutes before I got it open. It was very pretty, but the fabric was glued shut, and I couldn't get the seal to break to save my life. I finally had to go in search of a pair of scissors to cut the fabric away.

After that mini fiasco was over I took a minute to examine the bar. Sorry for lack of pictures at this stage. I was already in full shower mode by this point. I immediately noticed how soft the bar was. It has a weird consistency. It's almost crumbly, but at the same time it's soft and malleable by hand with very little pressure.

Washing my hair with a bar soap felt weird. I won't say I wouldn't try it again, but not with this soap. I like a lot of lather when I'm washing my hair. It helps m feel like it's clean, and very little lather was produced from this soap. When I rinsed my hair it felt waxy. I rinsed and rinsed thinking I didn't get all the soap out, but after almost running my hot water out I realized the shampoo bar left my hair feeling that way. I didn't like it.

After my shower I couldn't even get my big tooth comb through my hair. My hair felt matted together. I towel dried it the best I could and used the detangler/leave in conditioner spray. That helped with the tangling, but I was still left with a waxy feeling after I left my hair dry naturally. My hair felt extremely dry like all the moisture was completely sucked out of it. That's not good for someone like me who uses a flat iron at least once every couple days.

I finally added some salon leave in conditioner as well as a creme that helps prevent flat iron damage, and now my hair feels much better.

I didn't test the bar for shaving because I had just waxed a day earlier with the Nair Hair Removal strips I'll be discussing later. I'm not throwing the bar out yet. I'll give it a try for shaving, but if I don't like it, I'll ditch it.

Over all I was not happy with the Oatmeal Honey Vanilla Shampoo & Shaving Bar, and I would not recommend it. The Detangler/Leave In Conditioner will go into my box of things I might try again in the future, but it didn't work very well with the shampoo bar.

Just A Taste

I've got a lot of stuff I hope to get written up tonight. I just have to get some pictures taken. My crappy camera is charging, so cross your fingers and hope that it'll hold that charge for more than 30 minutes.

Here's a preview of some of the things that are coming up though. I just tried the Nair hair removal wax strips, so I'll give you a run down on those. I've also got some more bath and body stuff that I didn't buy from any of the franchise type stores. I tried a bar shampoo for the first time ever, and we'll see what you think about my hair after I used it. (Yet another picture to take), and then I've got a couple more sugar scrubs I've tried over the past two weeks. One I absolutely loved!

Stay tuned! There's more to come!

Arghhhhh!

I be a pirate! At least I can pretend!

I love treasure hunts, and right now I've just been given the opportunity to participate in an awesome treasure hunt where I can win some awesome jewelry from jewelelegance.com! I was just poking around their site to see what kind of jewelry they carry, and they have some gorgeous diamond rings. I would really love to win one of those since I can't even wear my wedding ring anymore.

There will be 4 treasure hunts in total, and the first one starts this week. The prize is going to be a beautiful 14k gold anklet. I would love to win that, but I'm really interested to see what the other prizes are going to be. You better believe if I win I'll be showing off tons of photos of my awesome prize!

Reviews Coming

I'll have a review or two up soon minus photos. I'll be adding photos as I have a chance to take them, or if I can I'll use photos from the etailers sites for now.

I told Hubby if the boys didn't get their stuff out of my office I was going to get rough with the stuff like a bunch of NYC movers throwing his crap into a van. All he heard were two words, mover NYC, but it was still enough to get him up and moving. He didn't like the thought of anything happening to the precious XBOX 360.

He's in the process of moving stuff right now, so as soon as I have my office back I can get to work.

Driving Me Insane

I'm really about ready to scream. I have a ton of reviews I want to get posted, but it's kind of impossible to do right now. It's impossible to do anything in this house right now. Hubby's having a video game marathon party this weekend. It was supposed to be over this afternoon, but now it's still going strong, and it's driving me insane.

I can't take photos because my camera is dead. I need to charge the battery, but with Hubby setup on the tv in my office his power cords are making a mess around all my cords. I can't find my cord to charge my camera anywhere.

I need to write up the reviews, but I can concentrate with gunshots coming from three different tvs.

I need to go to the grocery store, drop some cash in the overnight deposit at the bank, and pay the water bill, but I can't get out of the driveway. The Blazer's blocked in by 3 other cars, and no one will listen to me for 2 damn minutes to move their freakin' cars or give me keys to do it.

If I'd known things were going to go this way I would have said no video game party. Thank god these only happen every couple months, and most of the time at someone else's house.

The Scent Peddler Scented Simmering Granules

I added something new to my "things I love" pile tonight, and I have to admit it was something I thought I was going to hate. I received a sample of Scented Simmering Granules from The Scent Peddler, and at first I thought they were going to be really messy. The fact is, they're not messy at all.

These go in your tart burner, but they're not wax. These are natural sea salt granules. You place a teaspoon in your burner for normal scent throw, or more for a stronger scent. I placed about a teaspoon's worth in my burner and waited to see what happened. Almost immediately I was hit by the wonderful scent of Japanese Magnolia. Hubby came home hours after I had put out the tart burner and asked what smelled so good.

Like I said these simmering granules aren't messy at all. They don't melt! That means there's no messy wax to remove from the burner. You don't have to take the time to heat up the old tart to remove it from the burner before you can use another one, and that a big thumbs up from me. I hate having to clean my burner thoroughly just because I'm ready for a new scent. With the granules you just dump them in the trash!

Also you don't have to add water to them, and these guys never burn dry, so you don't have to worry like you do with tarts. At $8.95 for a 7oz bag I will definitely be purchasing more of these granules!

Controlling The Pet Population

I'm having trouble getting into my self hosted blog right now because of server problems, so I'm going to rant here for a minute if that's ok. Of course it is, it's my blog!

Anywho, I just wanted to let everyone know how thoroughly disgusted I am with people who can't take proper care of their pets. In this case, it's the ones who can't learn what it means to have your cats fixed. Anyone who knows me knows I love animals. My pets are my babies, but I take care of them. No, my cat isn't neutered, but that's because of medical reasons. The vet things he's too high risk for UTI problems, and he's an indoor only cat. If we had another cat in the house, that cat would be fixed.

My problem is with a neighbor of ours. This woman has umpteen cats running around that are breeding wildly. It started with just a couple of cats and spread like wildfire, like it does if you don't control it. People wonder why our animal shelters are overcrowded with pets that have no homes. Aside from the puppy mills (that also disgust me) and people who buy pets without having the full intention of caring for them once they're out of the cute puppy or kitten stage, people like my neighbor contribute to the over population.

No matter how many times I've talked to this woman about getting her animals fixed, she completely ignores me. I've offered to help her by helping her take the cats to the vet, I've offered to get the information for her on the free spay and neuter program the animal shelter runs, and I've even gone so far as to call animal control twice, but nothing phases her. Animal control comes out, loads up the cats they can catch (and most of them are wild), and they leave the woman with 2 or 3 cats because she promises to get them fixed.

Last night the motion sensor lights kept coming on outside my bedroom window, which is the back corner of the house. It kept waking hubby up, so he finally checked it out. As we suspected it was the cats running around our yard. This woman's problem has now become our problem because she has so many wild cats running around they are invading my yard. We find them in our barns, under our cars, hiding under our house...it's horrible. I don't know how many times I've walked outside to find a new litter of kittens emerging from the barn. Alley sits in the window all night calling now because there are female cats all over the place taunting him through the windows.

I'm really sick of it, and I don't know what to do anymore. Like I said I've called animal control, and nothing has really been done about it. I'm open for suggestions. What would you do?

Got My Cable Package

Remember when I said I got a new cell phone, but it wasn't the one I had originally planned to purchase? When Verizon announced they were coming out with the Voyager I wanted it. After spending some time playing around with it in the store I decided I didn't really like it as much as I thought. I had wanted it because it was the newest version of my phone, the vx9800 (The V), but it was touch screen.

In the end when it came time for the upgrade I decided to ditch the touch screen idea and go with the vx9900 (The enV) instead. I had already played around with this phone a lot, and I've used it many times since my best friend has one. I decided for the price, and the fact that it was just a newer version of my already trusty cell phone, it was perfect for me.

I chose to go with the green one (olive drab) because I love the color. I originally thought about getting the orange one, but everyone I know has the orange one, and frankly I ended up liking the green better. Hubby got a green one, too, but he bought a black silicone case for his.

Right now I really don't feel like writing up a full review of the phone, but you can find out all you need to know through the CNet review complete with video. What I was coming over here to write about is how happy I am that my cable package arrived today!

I ordered a cheap off brand cable package from Amazon for $3.89 that included the USB data cable, car charger, and travel wall charger. I've already got 2 wall chargers, and I have a car charger, but still for that price I decided to order the whole set just to get the USB data cable. I saw a lot of comments from people saying 1 or more of their chargers didn't work, but for less than $4 I gave it a shot anyway.

When the package arrived today the first thing I did was check the car charger. Sure enough it doesn't work, but the travel charger works fine, and the usb cord is doing it's duty uploading my ringtones to my phone as I type. All in all I'm happy even though the car charger doesn't work. For $4 for the whole set it's not worth it to pay shipping to return the 1 charger for a replacement.

What A Day

I'm hoping this day just can't get much worse. I was having a great day, checked my credit score, found it to be much better than I thought, and I was in a happy mood. Then I went to dinner with Hubby, and things just went downhill from there.

We had to stop after dinner to get brakes for the truck, and while Hubby was in the store a woman's car stalled behind us blocking us in. I felt bad that her car stalled, but I was pissed off, too. She was a mexican woman who barely spoke any English, and no matter how many times many people including store employees tried to get her to let them roll the car to the back of the small parking lot out of the way, she wouldn't do it.

She called her husband, and finally someone came along who could actually communicate with the woman, but she still pitched a fit and screamed anytime someone attempted to touch the old beater of a car. She couldn't understand that they were just trying to move it out of the way because she had 5 of our cars blocked from leaving the small parking lot.

After sitting there for almost 30 minutes trying to reason with this woman her husband showed up and moved the car. Of course he had to be stubborn as well. When Hubby and a couple other bigger guys tried to help this little old mexican man push the car out of the way, he became irate screaming in broken English that he didn't want any help. It was clear the guy couldn't move it himself, so finally the cops were called, the car was moved, and we finally got our car out of the parking lot.

When we got home, I walked inside to find most of my Lemming Central box that arrived today strewn everywhere. When I opened it earlier today Bubba was intrigued by all the smells. I even got photos of him sniffing the box, but apparently he liked it a little too much and decided to try to eat it. He didn't eat any of the actual products, but he ripped packaging and left teeth marks and puncture holes in a few things. Luckily I had sorted everything out into two piles earlier...the stuff I like and the stuff I hate. He mostly found his way into the pile of stuff I hate. That just means some product reviews won't have pictures, while I have pictures of others but no product left to try, mostly things that now oily messes in bags.

Then somehow on the way out to help Hubby with the brakes I slammed my fingers in the front door not once, but twice right across the top of my nails! My fingers were still hurting pretty badly when I began typing this, but now it's down to a dull throbbing. At least I can still type! I'm sure they'll be pretty sore in the morning though.

*Sigh*

I think I've had about all I can take for 1 day.

Crotcheted Bath Poof By A Woman With Scents

Check out this crocheted bath poof! I want I want I want!

This crocheted bath poof by A Woman With Scents not only looks like it would be awesome in the bath, but it looks like something Hubby totally wouldn't touch. That's exactly what I need. All of my bath poofs end up either torn to shreds because they're cheap and worthless or icky because Hubby picks up the first one he can find when he comes home covered in nastiness from work.

This just shows one of the many awesome products you can find on Etsy, where everything is hand made. I've stopped by A Woman With Scents many times in the past couple of weeks, but my no buy has prevented me from actually ordering anything. I promise I will as soon as I can!

For now I'm adding this poof as well as her crocheted cotton soap saver to my wish list, and I'm following the Stuff 'n Nonscents blog for updates on new products. If you're looking for some neat gift ideas, handmade soap, or handmade candles don't forget to check out the shop!

Working On My Wish List

I'm kind of on a "no buy" right now as far as bath & body stuff is concerned because I'm trying to save up some cash. I haven't completely stopped buying things, but I've got a ton of stuff that should be arriving in the next two weeks, and I just really don't need to buy anything else. Not only do I need to save my cash, but I'm running out of room to put my stuff!

I started a wish list of stuff I want, and I created it with two purposes in mind. First of all it's a Wishpot wish list, so everything I add to the list is in one easy to find place no matter what site I found it on. This will make it easier for me to buy stuff when I finally break my no buy.

Secondly, I thought this would be a great way for my family and friends to see what kind of stuff I really want. I'm tired of them saying "Jenn your birthday's coming up, but I don't have any clue what to get you." Of course my answer is always "You don't have to get my anything!", but they don't go for that. I normally end up getting some sweater that looks like something a 90 year old wouldn't even wear, and it sits on my dresser until I finally remember to return it to the store.

The best part is I can add my wish list to my blog sidebar, so now instead of emailing everyone 10 different lists from 10 different places I can point them in the direction of my blog. I'll be adding the wish list to my sidebar as soon as I'm finished with this post, so you can check out how awesome it is!

New Bed

It's finally happening! Hubby has promised to build me a new bed! I'm so excited because I really need a new bed, and with a new bed comes new mattresses. We've got hold mattresses that were already old with springs poking through when they were passed down to us 5 years ago. I've been begging him to build me a new bed because I want a memory foam mattress, and I want a new frame to go with it.

When Hubby says "yeah I'll build it" I have to stay on top of him.

*remembers the desk he started building me 4 years ago that's still not finished!*

But this time he's all excited about the bed. He wants to build it because he's just as tired as I am of our old full size bed and old mattresses. He wants a queen size memory foam as much as I do, so now we're sitting here looking at an online furniture catalog picking out styles we like.

Yay! I'm getting a new bed!

A Note To E-Tailers

After a little research I figured out where this sample of Goat's Milk Mango Bath Soak came from. It came from Just Peachy Candles and Soaps. The problem is I was a sent a sample of something amazing, but it's something I can't order.

Why? If you happen to click on the link above you will see the site is under construction.

I have a box I keep all of my bath and body related business cards in. When I receive a product and a card I write the name of the product on the card, and I keep it in the box if I liked it. If I don't like it, I put the card in my "see what else they have" section.

I found the business card for Just Peachy, and sure enough I'd written the Mango Bath Soak down on the card, but I'd also underlined the website with a note saying "dead link".

Now this is one of my samples that came from one of my LBB's or maybe a Candle Buzz Box. This leads me to another rant. Don't send me a product sample and a business card with the website to order more if your website doesn't work! This isn't the case of the e-tailer going out of business after the products were sent. This is an e-tailer who sent the products, but never finished setting up their web store. Did it really do you any good to send out all those samples if you don't have a website where we can order them?

Think of the potential customers that have been lost, me being one of them. I loved this product, but that's one thing I'll cross of my "to buy" list. The product itself is so good that I would probably add it to my "best buy" list if the price was decent, but instead it's something that will end up forgotten. Another product from another e-tailer will take it's place.

Nice Hot Bath

I woke up this morning thinking no, not already!

Cramps. Argh. Horrible Cramps!

I've tried to keep busy this morning, but this is one of those days when the cramps just hurt so much I can't really do much. Heck I can't concentrate to do anything. I decided there was probably only one thing was would relieve them, so I took a nice hot bath.

I pulled out a container of Goat's Milk Mango Bath Soak (sticker is missing, so I'll be hunting for the retailer), and man 45 minutes soaking in that was all I needed. No more cramps, no more bleh feeling. I feel like I just spent a nice relaxing weekend at one of those Branson resorts I want Hubby to visit. Now I really do have to find out what e-tailer sells this bath soak because it smells wonderful.

Let this be a note to e-tailers. If you're going to give me a sample container of your product, don't use your company label as the sticker that holds the container closed. I can tell that's exactly what happened with this container, so when I opened the container I clearly had to rip the sticker to remove it. What was left of the sticker is on the bottom of the container, but it doesn't give me any information about where this came from. Think about using a separate label so I'll know who to order more of this wonderful stuff from!

Changes

Please bare with me while I'm changing things around. I'm currently working on a new layout, but it's just not cooperating with me. Things my look a little weird around here until I get it fixed. Have patience, and I promise to have it fixed soon.

Yes iGrill!

I just realized my life as a geek could finally completely happen in the comfort of my office. That is if I wanted to convert my desk chair to one of those portable toilets. As for food I would have two options. I could purchase a mini fridge and eat sandwiches for the rest of my life, or I could go the extra mile and purchase a freezer to hold my frozen goods. Then I could grill out straight from my computer.

Yes I said grill...as in BBQ...from my COMPUTER. Freaked out yet?

I'm in love!

Check out the George Foreman USB iGrill.

According to Think Geek:

The low-fat, high-bandwidth solution to your networked cooking needs is finally here.

I'd say this baby really is the solution I'm looking for. Check this out. Not only does this thing power up and cook directly from a USB connection (making it perfect college students, etc), it takes your grilling to a whole new level. You can download recipes, and you can even set the grill by entering the weight, desired degree of doneness and type of food. The grill will make your food perfectly for you!

And I think this is totally cool.

As your meal cooks, the subtle glow from under the unit increases brightness and pulses faster until your meal is perfectly done.

Needless to say, I WANT this grill.

And to think when I googled "igrill" I was really looking for this one that has a built in sound system, also named iGrill.

Quick Update

I know it's been quite a few days since I posted here, but I really haven't had the chance to post any new reviews. I've got a few things ordered that I'm waiting for, and as soon as those come in I'll have a ton of new reviews up. Right now my allergies are killing me, and my prescription medications just can't cutting it this year. We went for a ride on the motorcycles yesterday, but we ended up having to cut the ride short so I could go get an allergy shot at Urgent Care. I think I'd rather sit in a room with 30 mortgage lenders than take an allergy shot. I hate them with a passion.

I did end up getting a new cell phone yesterday before all of that happened, so I'll tell you about it later. It's not the one I was planning on purchasing, and I even surprised myself with the decision. I'm happy with what I purchased though. For now I'm going back to bed because it hurts to look at the computer screen. Hopefully my eyes will clear up so I can come back later to share more.
