A friend of mine is expecting her first little bundle of joy in 5 weeks. Her mother in law sent out invitations to the baby shower, and I got mine in the mail today. The baby shower is going to be jungle themed, and that's what my friend also chose to decorate her nursery. I've got to pick up a gift for her, but I'm not sure exactly what to buy her.
She chose not to know the sex of this baby since it's her first (I'd do the same), so she needs unisex items for now. I'm going to stay away from the baby clothes side of things, so I might just buy her the adorable 5 Little Monkeys Baby Gift Set from PolkaDotPatch. Not only is it a cute little unisex gift set, but the monkeys fit right in with the jungle theme!
Just One More Service To Pay For
Have you heard about the deal with American Airlines charging for checking your bags? We don't fly, so I've never had to worry about stuff like this, but we'll be taking a vacation later in the year that requires us to fly. I'm a few days late reading about it, by when I was catching up on posts I've missed on TazDog I saw the info on it. Honestly I think charging passengers to check their bags is going to end up backfiring for American Airlines!
I read about that last night, so I mentioned it to my aunt this morning. My aunt and uncle are going to Las Vegas next month, and of course they're flying. I asked who she was flying with, and when she said American Airlines I filled her in. She's not happy at all! The thought of paying $15 to check her first bag, and then possibly having to pay $25 to check additional bags could hurt them drastically. They've saved for a long time to take this trip, and she doesn't want to have to cancel it.
Her options right now are to pack lighter (but that's hard to do for a 2 week trip to Vegas) and change hotels. She asked me to do a search for las vegas hotels that are cheaper than the one they're already booked at. She already has reservations, but she can cancel those and only pay a 10% fee if she does it in the next week or so.

Missing My Card
While I'm working on my budget I need to budget myself a few extra dollars to order a new SD Card. Mine has totally disappeared! I've found 4 different flash drives on my desk, but my SD Card is nowhere in site. Last time I saw it, it was in my camera.
The thing is I never take my card out of my camera unless I'm uploading photos. As soon as I've got the photos uploaded I clear the card and stick it right back in my camera. Not once have I ever just left it laying on my desk or out where it could easily be lost. I'm just totally flabbergasted. I went to use my camera and realized it said I had 4 shots left. I opened the card slot to take my card out thinking I forgot to clear it off. Nope, the card's completely gone.
I seriously hope I find it because I know there are at least 2 days worth of shots on that card that haven't been transferred to my computer yet. I just don't know where it could have gone.

Budgeting And Planning
I was reminded this week of how easily all of the budgeting and planning I've done can simply go right out the window. Each week I sit down to work on our budget. We aren't exactly living paycheck to paycheck anymore, but I still like to make sure I have things planned in advance just in case something happens. I almost always plan out 2 or 3 different scenarios so I'll have backup plans. That way if we have an unexpected expense I can work things out.
This week didn't go as planned though. Why? With all the stuff I've been dealing with I completely forgot it was a holiday weekend. I forgot Hubby would have a short paycheck. That puts me in a little bit of a bind because he took a day off last week giving him 2 short paychecks in a row. It would have been ok if I'd planned for it, but I didn't.
Ugh. Now I've got to rework my whole budget again.

Our Trip To Disney
Hubby and I were planning a trip to Florida in September. We never had a honeymoon, so for our wedding anniversary we decided to go to Disney World. Tonight we were talking about how lucky we are that we found a travel package that will allow us to cancel our plans and receive a refund if we find out we can't go. Of course we have to cancel at least 60 days before the trip if we want a full refund, but we're lucky to have that option.
Our trip isn't one of those luxury vacations by any means, but it's luxury enough for us. Neither one of us are about the flash. We both like simple things, and we travel the same way. We don't care about staying in some big fancy resort hotel. We're perfectly fine with camping. We don't need to dine out at some fancy 5 star restaurant every night. We'll track down the nearest McDonald's for the dollar menu.
All we care about is the opportunity to have fun and spend the time with each other. What more could you want?

Goodwill Finds
While I didn't have much time for shopping today, I was able to hit up Goodwill this morning. I ended up with some pretty nice finds, and I didn't spend much at all!
First I've been admiring the Chesapeake Hammock Stand from Pottery Barn, but I didn't want to spend that much cash on it.

I found a very similar hammock at Goodwill for $30, stand included! The hammock is in perfect condition. The stand just need to be sanded in a couple spots, and then hubby and I will stain it again. I can't beat a find like that!
I also picked up another crock pot for $7 since I'm always complaining that I need two, and I grabbed a new coffee maker to replace my broken one for $5. I'd say I came out really well. My mom was with me, so we used her senior discount, and I walked out of there with my goods for $35.70.
My mom found more wood blinds, enough for both her guest rooms, and she picked up 2 more teapots. She's a huge teapot collector, and I'd say she has at least 100 teapots now spread around the house in China cabinets.

Skyrocketing
We all know that the price of everything is going up. With gas prices being so high, the cost to deliver products goes up, and the price the consumer pays has to rise as well. It's a sick little cycle, and we have no way of breaking it.
It's just ridiculous how fast a price can change though. I don't buy most of my food in the grocery store. We buy Angel Food Ministries Boxes, and my dad and Grandpa are both farmers. This time of year we eat fresh food from the garden, and most of our meat supply comes from the Angel Food boxes, deer meat, beef from my dad's farm, and fish we catch throughout the year. We hardly ever actually buy food in the store.
Every two weeks I buy the essential stuff we need like toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish detergent, and a few cleaning supplies. Normally I buy the same items every two weeks, and it costs me right around $25 when items aren't on sale.
This week was different though. I bought the exact same items I always buy from the same grocery store. The only difference was I spent $2.50 on a pack of ink pens, and I spent $4 on some new Scrunchi hair bands. My total bill was $42.19!
Some people may not think roughly $10 more for their regular items is a lot, but it is for me. I already budget like crazy, and a lot of weeks I'm still pinching pennies. It's only been in the last year that we've been able to get away from living week to week on paychecks, but here I slowly seeing us heading back to that. The amount of gas we use each week has tripled since Hubby has to commute to work.
You makes me cherish the fact that we don't have to buy all our groceries each week. We don't have a family to feed right now, and we're not having to spend $150 on groceries each week on top of the gas we already spend. It makes me admire those single parents out there who are doing just that, raising families on minimum wage and still feeding their children, providing transportation, and keeping the bills paid so their family has a roof over their head.

Acne Cream Making Me Puke
All this stress I've got going on right now is causing me to break out like crazy right now. I stopped looking for acne treatments awhile ago because I tried an awesome 3 piece acne solution from Country Hill. The only problem is the smell of the cream makes me sick to my stomach.
At first I ignored the smell because the cream does wonders for my face, but the more I use it the more I realize the smell actually makes me so sick I'll end up puking. I've got a weak stomach as it is, and certain smells will set it off. No, I'm not pregnant. I've always had a weak stomach like that. I can't stand the smell of chicken boiling, certain other foods cooking, lemongrass, and now it's getting to the point where I can't stand the smell of this blemish cream. Looks like it's time for me to find something else!
Any suggestions?

Can't Sleep
I totally can't sleep tonight. All this stuff going on with the bike being wrecked has had my mind working overtime. I planned to lay down and just sleep away all the bad thoughts and feelings, but it just won't happen.
This wreck reminded me of how hard it was for us last year when Hubby had his wreck. Our income then was significantly less than it is now, and neither of us had insurance although we both were working full time jobs. The income is definitely more now, but we're still both without insurance.
Hubby's boss will pay for health insurance, but only NC health insurance since his business is in NC. Since we live in SC and Hubby commutes, that doesn't help us at all. I've been thinking about it for awhile now, but I think I'm going to finally break down and get us both a private insurance plan. Because I'm fully self employed and Hubby's considered part time self employed, we get a write off on a taxes if we pay for our own health insurance.
It's something I'm definitely going to talk to Hubby about tomorrow. I just really don't want either of us going without health insurance any longer.

Bad News
Well I just found out I won't really be buying too much bath/body stuff this month. Tonight one of our very best friends/my cousin wrecked our motorcycle. He wasn't injured badly thank god, but the bike was. It could be totaled out it's so bad, but the insurance company is willing to work with us for the simple fact that we only have liability auto insurance, and the frame is fixable for out of pocket costs.
I won't be paying for everything out of pocket. Our friend signed and had a statement notarized tonight saying he'll pay for all the damages. That'll help out greatly. I'll have to pre-order all the parts though, and then he'll reimburse me. All the extra cash I have over the next couple of months will go to ordering parts.

The Last Lecture
If you haven't heard of Randy Pausch, then maybe you need to find out who he is. He was a professor at Carnegie Mellon who gave an very inspiring last lecture after discovering he had pancreatic cancer. I've seen the video of the lecture, and it's a very inspiring one. He took the opportunity to tell about his achievements in live, and he gave advice to a packed out auditorium of students on how to achieve their own dreams.
Now there's a book out,The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, and I really want to give it a read. I'll have to search to see if my local library has it before I buy it, but I might just end up buying it anyway.

Just Not Enough Energy
Now I know why I've been so "off" the past few days. It's the "girl stuff" that has me down. My endo always causes problems when it's that time, and this month it's a lot worse than usual. That's probably because I've had allergies and a stomach virus keeping my immune system weak, so everything just piled up on me.
I had a lot of stuff planned this week, but so far I've done nothing but sleep. Last night I took the time to upload a few videos of Hubby's trip to Deal's Gap yesterday, but that's about all I've done. I slept all day today, and I still just want to curl up back in my bed.
Hubby wanted to go see What Happens In Vegas tonight, but after reading the reviews, seeing the type of ratings it's getting, and reading a few of the spoilers I don't think I want to waste cash on it...especially not the way I'm feeling right now. I'll wait until it comes out on On Demand, and I'll watch it for free.

Just "Off"
This is totally one of those days when everything I do is just "off". For starters, I sent two business emails from my personal email address this morning, so of course my clients didn't have a clue who was sending the email. I had to write an apology email from my business account. It just just a simple matter of for once forgetting to change the email address in the drop down list of my "from" field.
After that I was sorting photos, and I accidentally deleted the wrong folder of photos. I spent an hour recovering them.
Then I wrote a post for my freebies blog, but I accidentally told Windows Live Writer to post it to Informal Critique instead of the freebies blog.
Now I need to do some laundry, but I'm afraid to even attempt it right now. This is definitely one of those days!

Busted!
A Note To Lil Sis In Law,
First of all, it's wrong to steal clothes from anyone, including your sister. It's wrong to lie about it when she asks you if you've seen said skirt. It's just stupid to show up in photos on your Myspace wearing said skirt!

Become A Model
You can look at me and easily tell I'm not model material. I'm 5'2" for one, and I don't exactly have the body of a model. I love southern fried food way too much lol! But there are a lot of people out there who would love the chance to model. You may or may not be one of them. You might know someone yourself who you look at and think "look at her/him. She/he could so be a model!"
If you know someone like that I might just know of a way to help them find that modeling career they've been looking for.

http://www.lookoftheyear.com is a great way to get recognized. Look Of The Year is a worldwide beauty contest, and prizes include $10,000 USD. Who knows, you could submit your photo and be noticed by a modeling agency who's looking for someone with your look! To enter all you have to do is send in your best photo!

Friday's Feast 191
I'm enjoying my feast in the middle of the night tonight. Who said a midnight snack was never a good thing?
Appetizer
What is the nearest big city to your home?
Atlanta is an hour and 1/2 southwest of us.
Soup
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
Well that depends on the secret and the person ;-). I'd say 7 1/2.
Salad
Describe your hair (color, texture, length).
My hair has gotten a lot darker over the last year. I've gone from light brown to about medium brown. Right now the longest layer is right past my shoulders, and I have frizzy wavy hair. That's why I flat iron it.
Main Course
What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?
Considering I'm learning to ride the motorcycle by myself now, slow. In the car I don't fly. We've got motorcycles for the adrenaline rush. I hardly ever drive when I'm with Hubby so I'm that aggressive passenger with a slight case of road rage ;-).
Dessert
When was the last time you had a really bad week?
I can honestly say it's been awhile. I mean this hasn't been the greatest week, but it's a typical week where a couple things go wrong. For me a really bad week is one that sticks out in my mind, and right now I can't think of any. That's a good sign, right?

The Big Thirteen
Tomorrow is mini SIL's bday, and I really want to put together a cute little gift basket for her. She's going to be 13, so this year I opted to buy her a t-shirt. Thirteen is a big deal though, so I want to make a special gift to celebrate her age.
I recently ordered a few body scrubs as well as a few more bottles of lotion, so I think I'm going to snag some of those from my pile to add to her basket. At thirteen she's the perfect age to learn about taking care of her body and pampering herself from time to time. I'm just having such a hard time choosing what I'm going to give her because they all smell so wonderful I don't want to part with any of them!

Heading To Atlanta
Hubby found out today we'll be going to Atlanta in a couple weeks for him to do a side job. We'll be going on the weekend, and since it's a side job he's helping another guy with I'll get to go. The other guy's girlfriend is going as well, so I won't be stuck in the hotel by myself all day. I'd already planned on calling a few of the friends I have in ATL to hang out with me while Hubby's working, but now that the girlfriend is going I'm hoping we can do some shopping at Underground Atlanta. It's just so beautiful in that area with a lot of historical stuff to see while you shop and dine. I definitely want to drop by the Lush store since it's the closest one to me (yummy)!
I just hope it doesn't turn out like the last time we took a weekend trip to Atlanta for something fun. My friend and I went to Atlanta for the weekend to have a girl's weekend. What we planned on making a fun day of shopping turned kind of weird when we got lost in downtown Atlanta! That's not a place you want to get lost! We finally tracked down one of our friend's that lives in the area, and he met up with us. Of course he still won't let us live that down, and that was a couple years ago!
I think this time I might look up a few Things to do in Atlanta. I know Trusted Tours and Attractions offers sightseeing tours, so that could be fun. I've never taken an actual tour of Atlanta although I've been there a thousand times. They offer discount tickets for sightseeing tickets in 23 major cities like Boston for example, so I think it would be something interesting to do.
Oh, and if you're someone who loves to travel and see the sights, check out the Trusted Travels eNewsletter. If you sign up before May 31st you're automatically entered to win a $150 iTunes gift card!

Planning Your Vacation
Has your family already planned your vacation this year? A lot of us already know exactly when and where we're going for our little getaways, but some of us might still be looking for that perfect spot to relax. That's when blogs like The Travel Beggar come in handy. You can read about The Travel Begger's own adventures, and you might just discover a new place to visit. He walks you through New Orleans, and gives you a guide to how to make your adventure a great one. Don't forget to check out the Travel Directory as well for help planning your next vacation.
Throwing It Out
Doing some spring cleaning today I realized one thing. Hubby has way too much junk. He's got boxes of comic books, Garfield books, and legos. He's got clothes he hasn't worn in 5 years, and worst of all he's got a ton of broken furniture that he's set aside to repair. He'll never get around to it. He never does. Just like the desk he was supposed to build me years ago *wink wink*.
Well I hate to tell him but he's getting rid of a lot of stuff. I want him to go through his collections to see what I can Ebay. I want him to trash the stuff he's never going to fix. I'm so tired of having all this extra stuff taking up needed space in my house. I don't have a very big house. We've got a 2 bedroom 1500sq ft home, and it's packed with junk!
Things are going to change around here! I feel like I need to call that Clean House show!

Candle Dippers Body Mousse
Candle Dippers Body Mousse in Peach Melon
Candle Dippers Description:
When I first opened this body mousse I knew I would love it for the smell if nothing else. I absolutely love peach, and this one is no exception. I've loved all the Candle Dippers products I've received in the past, so I figured I would love this one just the same.
After one use I knew it's something I will continue to buy. It feels as wonderful as it smells. The body mousse is nice and thick, and it left my legs feeling nicely moisturized. It didn't have a sticky or slimey feeling like a lot of other mousse's have.

The one complaint I have is that the mousse sample I received came in a bottle. It's about a 2 oz nice sized sample, but the problem is it's a body mousse, not a lotion. It almost refuses to come out. I had to use a q-tip to get it out of the bottle, and that's really annoying when you're lotioning your legs. This stuff deserves to be in a little canister.
Other than that I give this lotion 5 stars. I'll definitely use it again, and I would recommend it to anyone with dry skin like mine.
Candle Dippers Description:
Light and fluffy like a mousse, but don't let that fool you, this lotion packs quite a punch! Paraben free. Made with skin nourishing oils: apricot kernel oil, macadamia nut oil, sunflower oil, jojoba, glycerine, coconut oil, vitamin E and more! Never made from a base!

Seeing An Old Friend
One of my very best friends has known me forever. Our parents were friends, so we were thrown into the playroom together at a very young age. I honestly can't remember a time of my life when I didn't know her.
Now I hardly ever get to see her because she decided to go to flight attendant school. It was actually something we used to talk about as kids. We'd sit in our tree house making plans about the day we could fly around the world working as flight attendants. We thought it would be a great way to see the world...and meet boys!
Boy did things change. She did go off into a flight attendant career, but I chose another route. No longer do we see each other on a regular basis, but we do try to get together when she comes into town. She's home for Mother's Day, so we're going out to dinner tonight.
She still tries to convince me I need to become a flight attendant every time she sees me. She tells me about flight attendant schools and the flight attendant blog she reads, but it's just not me. I have a husband now, and hopefully in the not so distant future I'll have a family to go along with it. I'm settled in my own little world here, and I'm too comfortable to leave it.
You better believe if I were still that wondering teenager dreaming of flying from place to place and never looking back, I'd definitely be all over flight attendant school. Get paid to travel around the world seeing it's wonders? I'd definitely be in!

Neuse River Candle And Bath
Now that I can finally smell again after the horrible allergy fiasco, I decided I wanted to smell something great! I've had a 2 pack of river rock melts from Neuse River Candle and Bath sitting in a box just begging to be melted. The scent is cinnamon, and I honestly can't resist cinnamon.
I have a hard time finding tarts that will fit in my smaller tart burner because it is very shallow, but these tarts fit perfectly. It took about 10 minutes for the tart to fully melt, and the scent released slowly, but was very wonderful. I can't stand when I burn a cinnamon tart that hits you really strong at first. I want something that's going to have a nice scent the entire time I'm using it.
The scent started drifting through the house in a matter of minutes, and it smells wonderful. It's not too strong, but there is definitely a nice throw.
The tarts are made of Starburst palm wax, and they are so beautiful I almost didn't want to burn one. If you want a tart that you can use in a decorative bowl before burning, these are perfect. They have a shimmery look similar to mica. They also give a nice cold throw as well, so I'll probably stick the other one in a bowl in the bathroom until I'm ready to burn it.
I burned this tart all day Friday, part of the day yesterday, and I've had it going all day today. It's still giving off a wonderful throw that hasn't deminished much at all. I'm expecting this tart to last for at least 1 more day!
When I blew out the candle last night and allowed the wax to cool off I noticed that beautiful shimmer is still there. It makes my tart burner look almost decorative and pretty instead of sticking out like an eye sore on my counter.
I definitely give these tarts a great rating! A 3 pack of Neuse River Rock Melts sells for $3, and that's a great buy! They also come in packs of 6 or 12. Each tart is approximately .9 oz. There are currently 29 scents to choose from.
