Job Situations
Hubby's been working construction for years, and he normally drives to North Carolina everyday because he can make almost double the salary up there than he can make in SC. We know the gas and mileage ads up, but considering it's all tax write-offs for us it hasn't been that big of a deal until now. Hubby got a job offer to run a hardwood floor install crew down here. He wouldn't be working for anyone anymore as a w-2 employee, so as a contracted employee he would have the opportunity to choose his own bids on the jobs, and he could choose to work in the prime real estate areas instead of just wherever his boss sends him. There's definitely a huge opportunity for more money, but I'm just not sure if I'm ready for hubby to be self employed. The fact that I'm already self employed would mean we're paying all of our own taxes. At least right now hubby's w-2 income cancels out a big majority of our taxes owed each year. It's definitely going to be a lot for us to think about.
