Okay I'm not technically a day late. I'm closer to an hour late since it is 1am here on the East Coast, but I wanted to get my Monday Madness in even if it is technically Tuesday here now. I've been slack on Monday Madness lately, too, so even though all the questions in this one don't exactly relate to me, I decided to do it anyway! We've all been in school at some point in our lives right? Right, and that leads up today's questions!
1. Do you have children in school?
Nope, but that's because I don't have any children.
2. Are YOU currently in school (any level)?
Not currently. I'm trying to get to a point though where I can go back to finish my degree.
3. Did you (or your children) attend a public or private school?
I went to public school for my required education, but I chose a private Christian school for college.
4. As far as formal education, what level have you completed?
Most of my applications would say "some college". I completed 1 year of college, and I took a couple courses at a previous job. I have a certificate as a certified solder specialist.
5. Do you, or did you have loans out for your (or your children's) education?
I had over $16,000 in scholarships, but because the private college I chose was so expensive, I ended up with a rather large chunk of loans as well. It's a shame it cost me that much for ONE YEAR!
6. What are your thoughts on the cost of tuition for colleges and universities?
See #5! It's absolutely outrageous. No offense to anyone who is not from the U.S. who is trying to attend a U.S. college, but I'm sick of colleges and universities charging it's American students outrageous amounts to attend while they throw free scholarships to kids from other countries to get them to attend. The same goes for all those sports players who get a free ride just because they can play a sport. College should be cheaper for everyone, and how much you pay shouldn't be determined by your country of origin or your sports skills.
I see this happen all the time at the University here. I know many faculty members who's job is to recruit students from foreign countries by offering them free scholarships while the price of tuition increases every year for the rest of us who would like to attend.
