Dress Emergency

Things really must have changed since my days in high school. I was shocked this morning when I got a call from my little cousin at 9am. She was freaking out because her high school is having homecoming extremely early this year. Apparently homecoming is the last friday in September. This means she's only got a couple weeks to find a dress. Now I thought we had our homecoming early my senior year. That was 7 years ago, but we were all shocked when it was announced that homecoming was in the middle of October. Normally ours didn't happen until the middle of November.

Now I've got a frantic 17 year old on my case looking for a dress. She knows I've got tons of dresses that I would happily let her borrow. I always went with classic dresses like the beautiful black dress with diamond accents I just happened to find for 75% off for my junior prom. I've also got quite a few gown type dresses that I've picked up through the years just because they were on sale. If I ever need to go to a big party, I've got a dress. We're the same size, so I assured her that I've got something to fit that she'll like, but I'm going to push for the black dress. It will look absolutely beautiful on her.

I love being the big cousin that she looks up to, and I'm super happy that she's not acting like her little friends and turning her nose up at a dress just because it's something I wore 7 or 8 years ago. I'm going to let her go through all of the dresses to pick which ones she likes. After all, in a few more months she's going to be coming to me for a prom dress, then there's going to be a graduation dress, and she'll probably ask me to design her graduation announcements. It won't be long before we're shopping for her college dorm room. Time sure does fly these days.
